The best ds one is Rune Factory 2. The best overall is friends of mineral town for the gba. That is hands down the best. (if iremembercorrectly its a remake of the psone version)
HM64 and the PS1 Back to Nature were some of the best, though BTN had an advantage in most areas, and less issues. Magical Melody was good, but stamina system ruined it for me.
Rune Factory was good until you had to wait for things to grow inside the dungeons.:(
