I'm trying to get a Harvest Moon game, since I seemed to have "misplaced" the one I had. I remember having a ton of fun with the Harvest Moon SNES game, and I almost immediately bought it for the VC, but then I saw that Magical Melody was supposedly the best Harvest Moon ever made... according to some forums. There there is the Wii game which got terrible reviews... but I'm not quite sure why.

For anyone who has played any of these games, which one would you recommend for me? (I've been a Harvest Moon fan for a long time so I like the gameplay... just want to know which one I should buy)

Not sure if they have one for the Wii. Anijmal crossing is pretty close to it tho and its really fun id check that one out ;)

Tree of Tranquility all the way!!Rune-Finlay

Reviews were complaining about 5-10sec loading times every time you changed environments... call me impatient, but that seems crazy for a game on the Wii. Is ToT really that much of an improvement over MM? BTW, to JuanZomby... Tree of Tranquility is the Wii Harvest Moon game :).

ok for one mm BOMBED!! I wasted so much time trying to get other couples married only to find out I couldn't. In ToT you can get other couples to marry AND they have children! just like in 64 version (which is my favorite game to this date) And apperently ToT is second best to it. I say rent it and give it a try if you have the wii system. I have yet to play it but I'm excited to this christmas.

I'd kinda like this too, which is why I have it in my original post. It got such terrible reviews that I think I'll just stick with Magical Melody since it is cheaper and seems to be more fun, according to reviews and general community impressions.

Magical Melody was awesome - but Tree of Tranquility tops it!
As far as the loading screens go: at the most you sit for 1 min. I've never had to sit longer than that!
[maybe the person who sits for 5 min. needs to check their Wii for Dust maybe?]
The reviews hit ToT down so bad - I think it is the best to date, especially if you are a fan, and have been since the 64 version.
Not to mention the double plot line! It isn't just farm/get married/ have a kid/ repeat any more - you have to work on saving an island as well, which consists of time consuming dilemma's that pay off greatly.
I say go for ToT -it's worth it.

I've only played the original SNES and Magical Melody. Since you've already played the original, it might be better to try some of the newer ones. As far as I know(since I haven't played it), ToT is considered good by harvest moon fans and an improvement over magical melody. However, there is the price to consider, and magical melody will still give you your harvest moon fix at a cheaper price. Just a warning though. If you are planning on playing Magical Melody(GC version) on the wii you need a good/official memory card. Some 3rd party ones will not save on the wii with that game. And it takes up a lot of blocks on the memory card. I can't remember how much, but it's a hefty amount.

If you got the money I would suggest getting both the SNES games and magical Melody. If the N64 game would have been available I would have suggested that one. They are both great but with different charm.

If you like the HM games I would also recommend the Rune Factory games.
