I don't think I even know what the final stage of Lavos happens to be.

I'm picking this game up after a year and a half from when I was bored with it the first time.

I really don't want to start a new game but at the same time I don't know what the heck I'm supposed to do. My party is already in its 70's so I was hoping I could just defeat Lavos and start a New Game+

But boy was I wrong. Lavos is just too strong near the end, and I don't know what strategy to use to defeat the damn beast once and for all.

Could anyone recommend me their party moves and setup to finally defeat the guy? Is my level too low? Type of equipment?

I'd appreciate the responses.

You can't use a strategy guide somewhere? I think the 70s is high enough to defeat Lavos.

Yes, I beat him on the PS1 version.

My team was Crono, Robo and Magus.

Crono spammed...something, Robo kept healing and Magus spammed Dark Matter or whatever it was.

I was lvl 52.

Many, many times, and my levels were in the 50's at the lowest. You just need a strategy and make sure you're attacking the right parts.

you can farm megalixirs somewhere in the floating castle/spaceship thing. that should make the fight a whole lot easier. then use Raptor-whatever its called. (sorry, haven't played it in almost a year so im a little rusty on the terminology.)

Just spam Chrono's last spell while healing.

I've beat lavos at lv 45 with Chrono, Frog and Robo. It isn't hard once you figure out which things kill first.

Which form exactly you're having problems with?

I believe you need a certain type of armor from 65 mil BC. Maybe the ruby armor or something? It gives massive fire resistence for Lavos attack. Thats all I can think of that you might be missing tbh.
