Okay, I didn't see any official Phantom-Hourglass topics and I didn't see a thread discussing GS import hands-on either so I decided to create one myself.

According to the article and the video and pictures the graphics look absolutely superb, and the gameplay in general (not the controls) is very Zelda-like with some extra humour, which is a welcome addition IMO.

But the most interesting subject in the article is definitely the controls part. Brad Shoemaker states:

We're most excited about the new control scheme, though, which we admittedly went in expecting to dislike. Quite the contrary, we already can't imagine playing the game in the traditional fashion

So what are your thoughts? Are you convinced that the new controls will work for you? I will definitely get the game, and I'm also quite happy that the controls seem to work pretty good. But I know that generally I try to minimize my use of the touch-screen (I played AW:DS in the original AW way) so I still think it's a shame they didn't include an old-fashioned control scheme. I definitely don't want to ruin my screen in some action-packed boss-fight:P

I was already highly convinced. I was hyped more for this than I was for TP. Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda because the looks was amazing. I wish it to be harder though

I'm a long time Zelda fan and the DS has become my favorite little system (mostly because I'm never home), so admittedly I was already pretty amped up about PH. Now I just can't wait.

It's been preordered and paid off for me when the release was originally supposed to be last year. I was pretty convinced since day one.

Yeah, I loved WW as well, especially the ending so I would have bought PH anyway as well. But I wasn't sure at all regarding the effectiveness of touch-screen controls in this Zelda.

And though it seems very well executed, I'm still not entirely convinced for the reasons stated in my original post ;)

Will everyone buy this game, including myself? Yes. Does a hands on say anything? Not really. All Gamespot hands-on are extremely positive. Rarely is there ever a negative point to be said. This game could end up flopping really bad (highly doubt it will happen) but the hands-on will make it a AAAA game. Just saying... take hands-on impressions with a bit of salt.

Anyways, the pictures look good :P.

The DS is the best handheld for a reason and I think it is because any stylus control system, even if poorly done, is still comfortable to use.

Im not a long time zelda fan (Twilight Princess was my first, and now im obsessed). I am not new to zelda however. I watched my friend most of the way through orcarina of time, I just havnt had a console that had zelda, (accept for gba, didnt get zelda though). I was sure i was going to buy this from the start, because how could nintendo ruin one of their best franchises. The preview just makes me all the more excited to get it.

I was already convinced in getting this game when Nintendo announced it was coming out. The hands-on just reassured me.

Yeap, they convinced me even more than I was already. It looks like it could definitely be one of the best games ever created.
