I've never dropped my controller. I removed the strap, since I thought it was just in the way.

I dropped mine once during Warioware but I wasn't sure of the motion and it slipped out of my hand but I was on my bed so it only fell like a feet or two and I have carpet so it was ok. Nintendo products are pretty durable, that's why it breaks everything else

If you have icky sweaty hands then you need to be a little more careful than those of us who's palms don't sweat.  The wrist strap is there for a reason.

I've never personally dropped my controller, but I know Nintendo's stuff can taking a pretty good beating. Again, I've never had too many bad accidents with my stuff, but my friends DS fell behind his dresser and it works fine. The same guy's Gamecube fell off his game cabinet and onto his GC memory card, leaving a big dent. The GC still worked fine and so did the memory card, even after the memory card went through the wash! So i'm pretty sure your Wiimote can survive a few accidents.

A month or so ago a guy was complaining about breaking his remote in this forum.  Upon further questioning he admitted he and his drunken friends had smacked it on a bedpost six or more times.

Buy one of the skins for your Wiimote. You can get 'em for like $10 and they work great.

check out www.wiihaveaproblem.com for some wicked funny pics of different things dystroyed by WiiMotes.  I let my one year old son play with the controller (he loves the blue lights) and he has put that thing through hell it still works though:)

I took the strap off and threw it away the day I opened the box.  Sometimes my hands get sweaty but I have never let go.

It has happened to me, while wearing the strap when playing bowling (but it wasnt tightened...). I used to have trouble keeping it in my hands before but I bought a silicone skin and it no longer happens
