I have had my Wii hooked up to an HDTV for moths, but have recently noticed the appearance of a black, vertical lines on the screen whenever a white background is displayed. Nintendo customer service says this is normal on HDTV's, but it doesn't seem right that something this distracting is normal. Have any other HDTV owners noticed this with the Wii, or is my unit faulty and the operator has no idea what they are talking about?

Definitely have compatibility problems between the two. I hooked up my Wii to my 720p HDTV and there's no problems. If your HDTV is rear projection then you might have an issue. And I think it's the TV, since you wouldn've noticed a problem with your Wii a while back.

Indeed. Also, if your TV is rear projection (you should do it with any kind of HDTV anyway) Go to settings ---> Video---> Display and turn on Burn-In Reduction. Do you have a link to what TV you specifically have? If not, could you tell me the model and brand? I may be able to help determine why that's happening.

The only thing that sucks with my 32" LCD and my Wii is the left and right sides have smalll black borders I see on some games. Excite Truck for example.

Im having the same problem but I just ignore it since it only happens when the screen is white. I dont see how it could be my tv though since my xbox 360 runs flawlessly on 480p.

It has nothing to do with your TV. It's your wii. I'm pretty sure it's because the graphics card overheated. My Wii had this problem when I first got it. So Nintendo just replaced it, and I didn't even pay a single penny. Just call Nintedo and see what they can do.
