I was trying to charge my DS lite and no orange light came on. The system turns on fine with a red light, but turns off after a few minutes.

I need to know what the problem is?

Broken charger, perhaps? Do you know anyone else with a DS who would let you borrow their charger?

I've had the same problem, and it was a faulty charger cord. If you don't have a charger to borrow, GameStop has a DS charger for $9.99. It's not the Nintendo brand name, but it is a decent charger. I'm not saying this is definately your problem, but it's worth a shot before you decide to replace/repair your system. :)

I've had the same problem before. If you munch on the cord a couple of times, that should do the trick. Usually theres stuff blocking the way of the charger cord.

It does sound like a loose wire, it hasnt happened to my DS but it did happen to my old laptop. If you kinda of bend the wire if should work, dont end up like me and have tape all round it to keep it in place just buy a new one if you can.
