I would suggest you contact the credit card company certain ones have some security restrictions, procedures that can make online purchases impossible unless you clear something.
Also are you putting in the address registered with the credit card company you know the billing one?
A few hours after an update on the wii such as new games being added to the shop the online functions of the wii do become eratic. Such as the votes channel downloading the new questions but not letting me transmit the answers. Or browsing the shop but not letting me download the game. A few hours later it clears up.
More likely the issue has to do with the multiple security layers in the wii servers when you input certain data such as credit card info. Regular online functions of the wii aren't so security encrypted so online game play shouldn't be effected.
u have to be using a visa or a master card after you put in the number put in the last 3 numbers on the back in the white zone then put in ur addrees and stuff and ur countty after that u should be having wii points ive done it 2 times already. 2 your parents cancelled the card or 3 its maxed out.merchnot necessarily. see my post above about the router issue. either way, it might be easier just to get points cards....if stores near you have any. i might just do that on my way home from work today.
Make sure the store sells the points card at the MSRP or below. With tax you may wind up paying 20 bucks or 22 bucks. Certain store chains are ripping people off by charging 25 bucks for 2000 points. Now add sales tax.  Of course said stores also ripoff Microsoft Marketplace points buyers.
i got an error message twice last night when i tried to buy points via credit card. i googled it, and someone on a forum said he had to place his router in DMZ while he did the transaction, then put it back after and said it worked perfectly. this is annoying because 1. most stores around here seem to be sold out of the cards (and everything else) and 2. i would rather not pay tax on the points, but that is not a big deal i guess. i suppose ill fiddle with my router. try that. i wonder if this router issue is going to arise with online play. Well I would suggest just going to the store and getting Wii points...its more secure than putting your credit card number in.nobodyshero87

Or it's the stupid state regulations. I haven't paid tax on vc points purchases unless I was to buy them in the brick and mortar stores since that would be a physical good.
99% of online stores I don't pay sales tax either. Barnes and Noble, Books a Million some smaller online shops will charge me a sales tax.
25 dollars for 2000 points is the normal price in Canada.Make sure the store sells the points card at the MSRP or below. With tax you may wind up paying 20 bucks or 22 bucks. That doesn't mean you don't *owe* taxes though. To be clear, if your state has a sales tax, as most do, then you always theoretically owe taxes on any purchases, even online, and even if they're not collected at the point of purchase. When you're filing your state taxes, there's an entry for those unpaid taxes at that point. Granted, that doesn't mean you have to claim them at that point, but you're *supposed* to. And states have been known to retroactively crack down on that, as it's officially cheating on your taxes. So yes, you'll see more and more stores collect tax on internet purchases going forward.Or it's the stupid state regulations. They have to some luxury food items they cannot buy soap or shampoo or toilet paper or toothpaste with their goverment assistance money. Nor deli items. Salt pepper and other spices yes.
[QUOTE="meimnobody"]25 dollars for 2000 points is the normal price in Canada. I meant in the us circuit city and a few other chain stores charge 25 US dollars for 2000 wii points. They aren't charging Canucks either this online as well as retail stores across the US where the Canadians are considered mythical since none of them have ever been known to visit..Make sure the store sells the points card at the MSRP or below.
