Well I had my wii set up at my house with component cables going to the projector at 480p and it worked fine.  I brought the wii to my friends' place in NC and hooked it up the their tv component in and all that came up were horizontal lines repeatedly going down the screen.  The sound works and when I moved the remote around and the it vibrates like it nomally would when going over the icons.  I believe the problem is just that the tv does not support 480p, but I can't really change the wii settings without seeing it on the tv.  Also I only have the component cables with me.  Any Ideas on how to get it working correctly??

Not what I wanted to hear :(.  If one of their friends down here has an HDTV I should be able to set it and change the settings, but my friends are in class at the moment.  But hopefully someone here has a HDTV.

ithink theres a way of reseting the settings to their factory form. Try holding down the power button for about 10 second.... that works for the PS3.

That'd just turn the Wii off :|.  I'll look at my manual and see if there's any way, if there is, I'll reply .

Hay man, I have a Fix for you. This also happened to me, and what I did was, turn the wii with out the av cables, you press A (still no av cables) to get to the menu, then wait about 10sec, then plug the av cables in, and the wii will go back to 480i. Hope this helps!

That sounds a lot easier than what I did.....

If kev's idea doesn't work for some reason, check out the above link. I had the same problem a few months ago and made a blog entry about how I fixed it.
