Sorry to hear what happened.

I guess the only way to get it back, would be if someone did a tradein with your DS.Then an employee would see the serial number?I don't know exactly if nintendo has some system like apple does for ipods.

Only thing I can think of is to start saving money. If someone's little bro isn't playing that thing right now, it's at a pawn shop or being sold for $30 at a bus stop. unless you have some kind of good store warrentee. I'm gonna guess most of those want you to present them with the broken unit before they'll replace it so.....

You can find it with the serial number, but it is very difficult and almost impossible to make it, so better start saving some money.

There's no way that Nintendo will replace your DS nor should they. It's your main job not to keep valuables where they can be stolen. Glass is not strong enough to keep a thief out of your car. So you're out of luck as far as Nintendo replacing it.

What you CAN do is take that serial number and give a copy to all the pawn shops and stores that sell used games and systems. Also if you see any used DS's on Ebay ask them for the serial number. It's a long shot but it's the only thing you can do.

Start saving for a new DS and remember that you should never leave anything of value in a car. While it's a expensive lesson to learn thankfully it wasn't something more expensive.

Since the gave you a serial number what you can do is contact the police about a stolen DS from your vehicle, since the vehicle was broken into. You can file a police report and give them the serial number, so if it shows up in a bust, they can give it to you. You can try to contact the car insurance company to see if you are covered for break-ins as they may end up giving you money to buy a new one. Also, Nintendo should be able to track the serial number only if the person who stole/bought the DS registers it on their site or via the mail. You can also try to contact places that buy/trade-in merchandise and give them your serial number to be on a look out. Nintendo isn't responsible for lost/stolen DS's. Other than that...save your money to buy a new one.

Welcome to life. People suck, and things get stolen. I could give you a list of my problems that would cause you to form a fetal position in your room, and cry yourself to sleep. Nintendo is not responsible for your stolen DS, so don't expect them to do anything. Do you think Toyota hands out free cars to all those people who had their cars stolen? Sometimes life hands you rotten lemons, and the only you can do is eat them, get sick, and hope somebody wants to hear your sob story. As for me, I have to show up to work whether I'm half dead, or barely alive, and try to make it through my day. If it's sympathy you want, then look to your family. If it's a new DS you want, then man-up and accept the fact that some jerk stole yours and buy a new one. That's what we'd all have to do.

By the way, I really am sorry about your loss. I love my DS, and I can't imagine life without it. I used to have good relations with my family, and friends, but I gave it all up to play videogames. The way I look at it, people can hurt you, and cause a lot of sadness in your life. But videogames on the otherhand, don't harm you and criticize you, and are always there when you need them. I have given up on reality, keeping a very large distance from any human contact. All my accomplishments are didgital, and although the world may not understand, I'm a very accomplished being. I may not have finished college, but I've beaten Resident Evil 4 six times. That's got to mean something in this existence here on this spinning ball of dirt we call earth. I've seen ghosts. I tend to forget what's important in life, but I'd trade it all for an HDTV. All my grandparents are dead. I used to worry about the future, but Nintendo looks like it has a good strategy. I wish the PS3 controller had rumble, and can you believe the Halo 3 beta is over already?

Here are two possible courses of action -

First, if you have homeowners insurance (which is a requirement for houses with a morgage...at least where I live) they may cover it...but I don't know if there are deductibles and stuff.

Second, if you purchased it recently and with a credit card, they may actually insure it against being lost or stolen. I have a credit card that covers all items purchased with it for 90 days.

Try considering those before buying a new one..

where i live, if you call the police and tell them the serial number, they can track it down somehow and give it back to you. ex. they wouldnt take my sp at the game store by my walmart becuz i used them so much the code wore off onto my hands. But they can find it cuz the stores have to keep all that info. plus, you could try local stores that sell games and stuff and if you give them the serial number, they might be able to help you. Other than that, i dont know what else to tell you other than good luck, and that really sucks dude.

That sucks. But i will tell youu my story. One day I was in Orlando,Florida for vacation I left my DS in the room. When I came back it was gone. I could not find it anywhere. So I now know it was one of the hotel cleaning people. Who was the only other person in there. Well that situation kept me ready for anything. Well thats all for my story. I'm sorry for you. Hope you find DS.

dude, lay off. It sounds like other than 3rd degree depression, a sucky life and no will to live other than video games, he has a lot to look forward to! *sentence reeks with sarcasm* You have no clue about his life, and most likely don’t have a degree is psychology, so why don’t you be the one Fing off, as opposed to giving him a sermon on life okay? I agree his way of facing life is a little drastic and think he should give life a chance and all, but sometimes people reach a point where some kid on an internet video game forum isn’t taken that seriously.

It's your fault it was stolen, so suck it up and get a new one. What you COULD do is have them send you a replacement for a 'broken one', but they will make you give them a debit/credit card to charge when you don't send one back to them. Again I say suck it up, work 40 hours a week - and go buy another one then keep your GD eyes on it.

Just hold on a bit...don't get snippy. Have you ever heard of the word "Responsibility"? You are responsible for your own property, not Nintendo. It's not Nintendo's fault that your property was stolen. Have you ever thought of checking your church lost and found? You never know...an honest person could have turned it in, as they could have been cleaning up the papers. Sorry for your loss, but you are responsible for your property.

if someone stole it from ur car, there's a small percentage you'll get it back. The only thing i can tell u is, either sell some of ur ds games, or start saving money.

Yep, they definitely go "ga-ga" over nintendo products so it seems, my evidence being the ridiculous amount the wii has sold.

It is YOUR responsibility to keep your DS/Lite safe the moment you buy it. It is your possession now, not Nintendo's, they should not have to replace it at all. I wonder why you even think they would in the first place when it wasn't even THEIR fault it was stolen, the only thing you should ask them to replace is if the DS Lite has a problem (like it won't turn on or their are dead pixels everywhere) because THAT is the fault of Nintendo.

maybe nintendo should do something like having a place for an event for contests, which difficulty varies from adult to for kids, and like maybe 20 or 30 ppl for each age category that would win will have a ds lite, with the color that they want. then there will be other games which will let you win games..some easy games will give u ds lite accessories

something like that i wish

Would you please look at the username of the person you are replying to and look at the username of the person who said they left their DS at the car. Does it match? No.
