I just realized it, but I haven't realized how much Sonic is dying in the gaming industry. He's one of those characters that are huge like Mario. Bur seriously, when was the last time Nintendo came out with a good Sonic game, like good at all aspects. Graphics and all that junk. But what do you guys think, do you agree with me?PlurpzWell, first of all, Nintendo doesn't make Sonic games.
Sonic's made be SEGA, you do know that right? and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is coming out on the PS3 and 360 and Sonic Colors is coming out on the Wii, and they both look AWESOME!
Sonic 4 is coming out on the Wii too. And yeah Nintendo has nothing to do with Sonic.Sonic's made be SEGA, you do know that right? and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is coming out on the PS3 and 360 and Sonic Colors is coming out on the Wii, and they both look AWESOME!

I have a new signature!
Guys, i need to kind of restate what I said. This isn't supposed to be on the Wii board, im just so used to posting stuff here. I know Sonic is made by SEGA, i screwed up on my post.PlurpzYeah I know what you mean. It's hard to break the habit after posting so many thousands of times here.
Oh wait.
But yeah, Sega has made plenty of Sonic games.... It's just that most of them have been forgettable. Going back to the side-scrolling format might help, but who knows....
Here is a simple breakdown of it:
My wife has very fond memories of sonic the same way I have very fond memories of Mario.
She grew up with sega systems, I grew up with Nintendo Systems.
The reason Sonic doesn't have a strong Presence in gaming today is the same reason sega doesn't make hardware anymore...they just aren't as popular. Nintendo Outsold Sega so not as many people's fond gaming memories are of sonic, Sega could only dream that Sonic was as important as Mario!

Lol you beat me to it! I can tell he is a seasoned poster :P.
Did anyone else picture Phoenix Wright upon reading the title of the thread?
_BlueDuck_
Yes. I was expecting this to be a thread about Phoenix Wright to. HOLD IT! lol
But anyway, I grew up with Sonic, but I'm really hoping Sonic 4 and Sonic Colors can revive the series.
I wish a good sonic game would come out I mean yeah they have Sonic 4 coming out but ehh not to sure if I'm going to get.
Sonic Colors is going to be great. It's the day time Unleashed levels, with the Werehog junk cut out, and expanded on with some all new powerups. It's going to be glorious, because the day time Unleashed levels were actually really awesome. Sonic 4 also looks like a sure fire success story.AndromedasWakeWell, I hope so. I haven't played a decent 3D Sonic game since Sonic Heroes, and even that one had its share of problems.

I really like Secret Rings and I regret how far the Black Knight fell from this formula. I still have to try Unleashed About the 2D versions coming, those appears to be what the old fans are actually asking for, so I hope they deliver
I still have to try Unleashed enrique_marrodz
Wait for Sonic Colors. If it is, as they've described, Sonic Unleashed without the Werehog levels, then it's going to be an outstanding game. Those daytime levels in Sonic Unleashed were brilliant, but for every daytime level, you had to play like five werehog levels, which were incredibly boring.
I'm really excited about Sonic Colors. If you haven't read/heard/seen much about it, I have a video with gameplay and details on my Youtube channel:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjPAToBlepE
And no, it's not an ad :/. Just figure anyone interested in Colors should check it out.
Sonic is going VERY strong.
Sonic is about the most popular and well known 3rd party character on the Wii. Sonic is one of the best selling 3rd party franchises on the Wii right now...probably 2nd only after Guitar Hero, if not then first.
He's been in over half a dozen titles for the Wii, many of them selling over a million. [Riders, Black Knight, Unleashed, Secret Rings, Colors (soon), Sega All Stars Tennis, De Amigo] Also NIntendo is bringing in him and we've had two Olympic games and he's in Smash Bros Brawl.
No, not dying at all.
Hm...... I tend to agree, but some of those titles are atrocious. All Star tennis, de amigo, secret rings, with the exception of Colors, the Olympic games and Smash Bros. It don't get better than Super Smash.Sonic is going VERY strong.

It don't get better than Super Smash. Nearly every single one of those has sold over 1 million units. Sonic is at least among the top 3 selling franchises in the 3rd party, if not #1. Guitar Hero and 'Lego' are way up there also.[QUOTE="Plurpz"]I just realized it, but I haven't realized how much Sonic is dying in the gaming industry. The handheld games were great. It's just the consoles games that have been struggling.
And that might even come to an end with Sonic 4 comming out
And nintendo has nothing to do with sonic...
well thats not entirely true. Nintendo has a allowed Sonic to partner with them a couple of times with multi million sellers(to put it bluntly, mario and sonic games -exclusive wii game-have sold in similar numbers than metal gear 4). Also, and by a large margin, sales of Sonic games have been many times higher than the other current consoles combined. As a result, wii has also received many more Sonic based games in its history (after Sega leaving hardware), than the other consoles. In other words, is as if Nintendo subtly adopted Sonic.I just realized it, but I haven't realized how much Sonic is dying in the gaming industry. Seriously Sonic is certainly NOT as big as Mario.
