what control scheme are you guys going to use in Mario kart wii and why?

-Wiimote + nunchuck (A: accelerate, B:brake, Z:items and A+B(A+B not confirmed): Power slide, move with analogue stick, wiggle wiimote and/or nunchuck: Tricks)

-Wii wheel ( 2: accelerate, 1: brake, d pad: items, B or 1+2 power slide, wiggle for tricks)

-GameCube/****c controller ( A: accelerate, B: brake, L: items, R: power slide, analogue stick: move, d pad : tricks).

Ill try the wii wheel and if that doesn't work ill use the wiimote nunchuck witch i hearing good things about it.

(for people who are wondering where i got this info from: IGN and Gamespy)

***News regarding the control schemes, copied right from the official fact sheet***
Wii Remote Controller (with or without Wii Wheel): Steer by tilting the Wii Remote left and right. Or snap the Wii Remote into the Wii Wheel to transform it into a steering wheel for an intuitive, motion-based control scheme.

* Nunchuk Controller: Steer with the Control Stick on the Nunchuk and use the Wii Remote to accelerate, perform tricks and drift.

* cl a ssic Controller: Mario Kart veterans can let their thumbs do the driving with the cl a ssic Controller. However, players cannot perform certain moves with this control scheme.

* Nintendo GameCube Controller: Experienced Mario Kart fans may also enjoy this familiar scheme, although some maneuvers cannot be performed.

Totally going to use my hands

I'm going to do it wheel style but without the wheel, I prefer just holding the bar.

Yeah the wheel's just a shell.

I just like the feeling of holding the Wiimote NES style compared to holding the wheel, maybe that'll change with the Nintendo version but I doubt it.

And if I still hate it. I throw it out the window.

Kidding, I'm going to love it no matter what.

I'm going to try the other control options. I did the same for Brawl. I use the GC controller just because I feel more comfortable with it.

So the only way this game is different from Double Dash is that you can shake the wiimote to do tricks?

I'll probably go with what Jaysonguy said. I guess the nunchuk analog stick should be more accurate and whatnot but, while I think the wheel is a little bit too much, tilting the wiimote is always fun, and that's all I really want. I don't want to be a l33t pro; I'd rather have some plain n00bish fun.

can somebody please explain to me why you would play with a GCN controller? Isn't one of the best things fr the Wii the revolutionary control system? I understand people played Melee and Double Dash on the GCN, but this is the Wii- not the GCN 2! Move on, and come play in this generation of gaming.

Does it not seem like a waste to you? You have a new console, yet you aren't experiencing anything new. The Wii's next gen is all about a new type of gameplay. PS3 and the 360 are all about new graphics. Playing a Wii game with a GCN controller is basically the equivalent of choosing to play a PS3 game with PS2 graphics. It seems like you are cheating yourself from the experience of this gen. But hey, whatever suits you, man.

What you're saying makes sense, and in case you didn't see my other post, I am going to use the wii wheel if it turns out to be pretty good, but I'm just not gonna surprised it doesn't work that well, then I'll use the Wiimote and Nunchuck, and if that doesn't work out then I'll use the GC controller. I did the same thing for Brawl. I tried the Wiimote and Nunchuck, didn't like it, so I used the GC controller. I just think it was smart of Nintendo to give players these options for Brawl and MK.

You can't experience anything new in a game if you're not playing it with a new controller? So Mario Galaxy would be crap if it wasn't for the wiimote? Please. I might not even get Kart, but if I do, I would have no problem using a gamecube controller if it worked better than the alternative.
