I'm only five or so hours in right now. I like the interface and the voice acting, and think the music is good. The graphics are good and 3D effects are terrific imo. Early on the difficulty is challenging but I'm not gonna lower it down. The strategy guide suggests that the game is going to be very long. It's amazing all the information they can fit in those little game cartridges these days.

I'm close to 10 hours in and I'm loving it. The difficulty has been demanding as the fights haven't been giving great experience and it's tedious to level, but it's nice to have a challenging game. I've died quite a few times. But at least you learn the enemy weaknesses and can better prepare the next time around. The story hasn't really gotten going though, so I can't really comment on it much yet.

I've only played a few hours but I'm enjoying it. I am finding the difficulty a bit tough, though I haven't died enough to unlock the easy difficulty I hear about and this is my first SMT game so I'm still learning the ropes. Love the graphics in the exploration segments, do not care so much for the static backgrounds and portraits for the battles and dialogue portions. While it doesn't seem completely out of place on a portable it does make the game feel a bit cheap.

FYI: You'll think you're breezing through the game if you follow the strategy guide that came with it, but it really only covers about 40% of the game. Enjoy everyone! :)

Still in the early stages - put it down due to Steam Sale and playing some games I bought while I pack and move.

Did you get all that... lol. Getting tired of that line! :P

I am enjoying it so far though and it is around the difficulty level I expected.

I'm loving it so far. Its reminiscent of strange journey to me. I love that it doesn't have random encounters and the fusion system is very easy. I don't understand  the difficulty complaints though, I didn't experience any trouble early on in the game and still haven't at the 15 hour mark.

I plan on using the strategy guide only if I get super-stuck, otherwise I've only glanced through it when I got it.

It's great, so much better than strange journey. (Although being able to wear a Demonica is pretty rad)

It does have random encounters. I've been side-blinded quite a few times. As for you having an easy time of it, I suspect that it is due to familiarity with previous iterations of the game (the demons probably have the same weaknesses despite appearing in different iterations of SMT).

I haven't been this engrossed in a SMT game since Nocturne (although Strange Journey came close). The graphical interface and update makes the experience of playing so much more pleasurable than previous iterations. I love that the demon fusion information is more upfront (instead of having to click 2 demons every time to see what the fusion becomes). Dialogue with demons is still fun. Combat feels more deadly but I love the xtra turn reward aspect of the it. Storywise, it is getting very interesting especially with what seems like a tie in... I have to admit though that the guide book has added to my enjoyment. Not once did I feel like throwing my 3DS across the room (despite experiencing TPK multiple times). Right now David is kicking my a$$ but hopefully I'll find the right combo to overcome him (or do the time honored action of grinding).

No, it doesn't have random encounters. If you've played Strange Journey, that had random encounters. You can get snuck up on by demons if thats what you're referencing by saying you were blindsided. But you can avoid the demons if you so choose, you can see the enemies. And while I have experience with SMT games, I feel like as long as you play the game it should be played and be strategic, its not all that tough. Sure, its more challenging than the average rpg, but its far from difficult.

I do wish they took a note from Madoka Magica and made each demon domain different for the demon like the witch labyrinths.

I'm about 20 hours in and I'm loving it. It was challenging during the first hour or so because the enemies kept killing me in one hit. But once I was able to assemble my own party of demons and purchase the more powerful Apps, the game got a lot easier.

I got Soul Hackers and this is way better.  One thing you will like is your protagonist can use magic!  I wasted so many points on that in Soul Hackers...

Hahaha... Me too. That is part of what I liked about it though. They didn't explain anything, even in the manual, so I thought it was fun to have to figure it all out.

It starts out brutal, with one-hit elemental critical kills. After a few hours of leveling up, demon fusing and buying helpful apps like walking to regenerate hp and mp, the game gets almost easy, and you can save anywhere now, unlike previous games.

Bought this on the eShop a couple nights ago, couldn't resist what with the eShop coupon deal. I haven't started playing it yet though because I'm wrapped up in Fire Emblem: Awakening (plus some Harvest Moon: A New Beginning on the side which can really suck the hours away). This will be my first time playing through an Atlus RPG, I'm looking forward to see what kind of story/atmosphere it has.

You're gonna love it. Now that I think about it, SMT and FE do compliment one another in some weird way.

So far, I'm enjoying SMTIV so much and the game is challenging, just how I like it. I'm stuck with Medusa at the moment and I will have to think for a new strategy because she's tough I'll tell ya. And I LOVE how you can pick the skills your demons can have when you're about to fuse them, that alone made the game even better for me lol ;)

I love it but it's so hard for me :| I only just started and I already died a lot and unlocked the easy difficulty after the second death. Now I'm playing it on the easy difficulty and focusing on leveling up my team.

Do not feel bad, the start of the game is supposed to be ridiculously brutal at the start.  It gets easier though.

I finished up Fire Emblem: Awakening two days ago and powered through Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon yesterday and today.

I bought SMT IV the other day but now I finally have time to get into it. I've played about an hour of it so far and I'm learning about the battle system and I'm on the second quest, to recruit allies.

I hope I do enjoy the game, so far I'm really intrigued but I hope it stays that way. The only other SMT title I've played is Devil Suvivor and I wasn't really a fan of it, I couldn't get into it. This seems much easier to get into though.

I started playing this tonight and it's cool so far. I liked that when I got game over, I could use play coins to return back with my macca and items. Interesting use for play coins, and I've got a lot to spend. Negotiating to get demons to join your party is interesting.

After you beat a certain boss the game really opens up and there's so much to do. It's getting to where I can't hardly put the damn thing down, it's so addictive.

I'm on the last day of Devil Survivor Overclocked and loving it (three cheers for Easy mode). I'm concentrating on levelling at the moment because I'm just too chicken to plough on to the final battle (based on conversations with various characters it really doesn't sound like anything nice :P)

My first SMT game. So far i'm 18 hours in and I am an instant fan. Game is nothing like i've experienced in a long time. The concept of dealing with demons and conversing with them laid the foundation for a completely ere feeling. When I got to Naraku and was going down the spiral stairs, I was bracing my self for my first demon encounter lol. Good game.
