I know people are getting Final Fantasy crammed down their throats and are sick of remakes; but come on!!! The original is one of the best!! A remake might be awsome!! I can't wait because this was one of my favorite games ever and can't wait to relive it.

Anyone share the same feeling?

There was a thread about FF4, how cool the graphics looked. It looks good but ive somehow been turned of by the fact that Square Enix seems to be milking Final Fantasy for too much already. I dont know, maybe its just me.

Even if this is the definitive version of FFIV, it doesn't change the fact that they just released a GBA version 2 years ago.

Not only that, but there was the remake for the PSX with added CG scenes. There's so many, but I do not mind playing FF4 again. The story of Cecil and his struggle is by far one of my favorite stories of the Final Fantasy world.

I think the US details on this game are still sketchy so until things become a little firmer I doubt there will be tons of hype. Granted the last remake was only a couple years ago but have you seen the screnies? My gosh talk about a overhaul! Plus this game is prob my #1 pick for all-time #1 FF game. So yeah I must say I am eager to throw this game into my DS.

There's no hype because we don't have much info about the U.S. version. I myself am looking forward to it though! I mean, a fleshed out plot/story, playing as Rydia in 3D (there was a screenshot of her I found on a Japanese gaming mag, I forgot where I found it though but she looks awesome!), and it looking like the definitive version of FFIV, I am looking forward to it a lot, but there's nothing much we can look at to give it hype.

There's no hype for FFIV yet because the game's release date is still awhile away.

Meanwhile, Zelda is over the hype limit right now since it's only a month away! :D

Final Fantasy IV DS looks great and all, but I don't think it needs another remake yet. It's already out on several systems. There's FFII for the SNES, the PlayStation port, the Wonderswan Colour remake (which I presume was Japan only) and there's the recent GBA remake. Don't get me wrong, I love Final Fantasy IV. It's a classic I will always remember along with all the other people who liked it and played through it. My favourite version of FFIV is the original SNES version. I think Square Enix need to focus on the FFVII remake. It's what the fans really want. Square Enix would get an absurdly large amount of cash if they remade FFVII. FFIV doesn't need another remake yet. They recently remade it, so why remake it again? FFIVDS looks good however, but they do need to respect their fans.

I agree with that, I hope they fix the things that made FF III so boring, like the fact that theres no sense of direction, thats what i didnt like most, and the battle system wasnt so good either.

I would be excited, but I really just cannot muster the strength to cheer for the continued milking of the old Final Fantasy's. It's just reached the tipping point I think, where the amount of remakes and spin-off is reaching critical mass for me, it's just getting ridiculous, and I'm not going to support it any more.

Had III DS not been a succes there would be no IV DS. Turns out it has been in development for a year already and it's nearing completion. These 3D remakes are SE's new way to make cash.

But honestly, can we complain? IV Advance was hell glitchy and IV on the PSX had load times and horrible CGI opening. Now fixing all that, while expanding the story with parts of the 3/4 of the script that has never been in any version before, adding voice-acting, a new song (with lyrics) for "Theme of Love", an improved ATB battle system, 3D graphics, hopefully FMVs, making Rosa actually look beautifuland a system that will make you want to play the game twice all seem descent enough new things to make IV DS a game worth another purchase no matter if you own IV Advance.

Who knows, SE just might add bonusses that are unlocked by having IV Advance in your GBA slot (doubtful, but we can hope).
I'mglad that they are making these DS remakes of the SNES gams (and FF III). These games do deserve attention and more effort than just a simple port. They are finally putting some effort in these games, by taking at least the trouble to switch to 3D, which offers an entirely new view on the game and its story. Yes, milking, but for this game and hopefully V DS (VI DS I don't care for), it's not that bad.

Not as bad as... A FF VII-compilation or so?

But I do agree that it is the last time we see them for a while. After this, they should focus on giving IX a great remake. =p
Anyway, I'm hyped for this game, because it deserves it. A 'complete' vesion of FF IV tha twill fix the small flaws III DS had (in my eyes) is always welcome in my collection of DS games.

C'mon, it's IV! With added script!! That is enough for me. I always thought the older FFs were a bit short in script, and things tend to happen too fast.

But Crisis Core (PSP) is on top of the hype meter for handheld FFs. Cloud's scream alone (in the latest japanese trailer) sold it for many. So much emotion and nostalgia comes out of it... I myself had to hold back my tearing up. No matter how much some deny it, FFVII brings back good memories.

I liked it too, my favourite FF game after IX. IV just looks to be better in the technical department, fixing some 'flaws' the DS presentation had, like not really using both screens and some loading times (Chocobo Tales is also fully 3D and that had no loading times whatsoever).

I like how they made the character models a tad more realistic than in III, shows again they are putting a bit of effort in it. They could have easily used III's engine (which they probably are, but improved) and not bother to do any of the extras and changesthey are doing, and it still would sell. =p But at least they are giving us a lot for our money this time. Or at least they promised to give us a lot.

Wuh? FFIII didn't have any loading times, just transitions that took like a second. Since it's cartridge form... it wouldn't make sense if it loaded anyways.

Yeah well, that's what I mean. It's nothing big, I know. But if we look at SE's Chocobo Tales or the videos I've seen of FF CC RoF, both full 3D games like FF III, they don't have this and III DS had. So I just hope IV follows their example. It's also good that they are keeping the same number of enemies during battles as in the original. I found the 3 enemies per battle limit a bit of a let down, after playing through the NES version of III where enemies enjoy to pile up on you.

All small gripes that don't take away any fun from the game, or maybe a little, but I just hope IV fixes them, then SE has the perfect DS-remake formula.

Wow, good job saying that two completely different games are the same. Final Fantasy IV is way better than Final Fantasy III, it gets rid of the horrible job system (which was done way better in FFV), the story is a lot better and doesn't revolve entirely around the crystals anymore, and the characters are actually interesting unlike FFIII. The only reason FFIII was so boring was because it was FFIII, Square Enix just chose a bad game to re-make.

No, the reason you couldn't enjoy III was becuase it's just too old for this time. That's not a flaw of the game, it's a flaw of us gamers of not being able to enjoy something less then we're used to anymore. Not something III can help. And by changing too much, it wouldn't be III anymore. Really. I have no troubles saying III was the best NES RPG ever, one that really set a lot of standards for the FF series. But you have to be willing to sacrifice those silly today's standards to be able to enjoy the game these days. It was no bad game, never was, never will be. Just old and it came too late. Yes, I blame SE for waiting so long to remake it. Not the game.

And IV's story was crystals. From the beginning to the end. A lot more crystal-based dungeons than in III DS, to be honest. =/

Would have to say that I am looking forward to the 3D remake of this game. I was one of my favorite FF games on the SNES. I have been playing all of the FF games again. Decided to start from the begining and play them all again. So I went out and bought the PSX remake versions of the games. Have to say that I am enjoying them extremely.

Wuh? FFIV had a lot more character development and plot in general. FFIII was a lot more primitive, without interesting characters, heck, I didn't find them to be even memorable, they were like drones. Unlike FFIV's crazy ol' Tellah and Cecil's sense of justice.

im looking forward to it. also i wouldnt call it a total remake cause they only had 1/4 of the original story in the original and the other remakes. with this one for the ds they are adding the rest of the story. so itll be a whole lot longer
