But if it really is a 10/10 game it should be perfect the whole way through. The reviewer ACTUALLY HAD SOME BRAINS AND PLAYED THROUGH THE ENTIRE GAME.
No offense.

Well the first game got an almost perfect score by most critics and the second was better than the first. Logically it should be given a bit higher score which would therefore explain the 10/10.

A 10/10 doesn't mean it's perfect.
10.0: Prime:This exceedingly rare score refers to a game that is as perfect as a game can aspire to be at its time of release. Obviously, the constantly changing standards for technology and gameplay will probably make this game obsolete some day, but at its time of release, a game earning this score could not have been improved upon in any meaningful way.

Meaning that it's the best in what it does, which Super Mario Galaxy 2 is. The reviewer felt it's the best 3D platformer released to date and believed that it exceeded the quality of the first title as well.
The game kinda starts to get interesting later. At 50 stars or something I saw things I thought were pretty cool. At 100+, where I am now, it's been awesome, and I doubt the awesome will stop there. So if you liked the first, I really recommend you continue.
I only just started playing the game, but so far its exactly like Super Mario Galaxy 1. How did this game get a 10?TheEnd54321
So what did you expect it to do in the first couple of hours of play time then? keep playing and lay off the new topic button :P save complaints until you have finished a game :).

Umm....actually the reviewer stopped at 98 stars. Tom McShea admitted to it. if reviewers had to complete a game 100%, it would take much longer to review games. besides, he beat the game. The reviewer ACTUALLY HAD SOME BRAINS AND PLAYED THROUGH THE ENTIRE GAME.

Yes, after he posted the review, he eventually went on and beat it. He didn't play through the entire game though and then decide to write / video review it. Just stating the facts.[QUOTE="Dycras"]Good one. And plus, the Wii has lower standards than the other consoles imo. True.because it's easily as good as gta4 and mgs4 but it didn't take 4 tries to perfect:P

SMG got a ten for a lot of reasons. Anyone can play it, not just the hardcore gamer. Even Kids could. It has great Boss fights. The cloud suit boss fight is amazingly fun. The soundtrack has more orchestrated music, and the music itself is superb. The game is a great sequel to SMG, which already got a 9.5 itself. The overall gameplay is just better than most other games out there. SMG2 also has an amazing visual design. It is extremely different from other games, and pulls everything out well. The game is technically proficient. Not just for Wii. The game runs in 60fps, and the structure of the game was apparently very hard to make according to Nintendo. Which is easy to believe. The gravity mechanics of the game also run extremely well. The game controls very well. Just moving Mario around feels great. The game can really suck you in, and you will find yourself playing for 2 or 3 hours at a time. More if you are the type of person who plays a game for a long period of time. SMG 2 has a charm about it. The Charm could be the unique look of the game, from the boss fights, the look of the worlds, and more things that are original to Mario games. The Charm could also be the nostalgia you might feel playing it, and how Nintendo presents it. The biggest reason is probably the amount of Variety in the game. I for one didn't see anything new that Nintendo could do to Galaxy 2 besides Yoshi or new power ups. I wasn't the only one. Yet SMG 2 had a huge level of Variety. Not from power-up, but the levels themselves.

dont feed the trolls. rarrrrBecause the reviewer thought it deserved a 10? I don't know what you want us to tell you, none of us are the reviewer. Apparently the reviewer was Tom McShea, how about you go private message his forum account, or email him, and ask him this question. I'll give you a hint though, typically reviewers tend to hide the reason for their score in some funny little area below the score, it's in a hidden place no one ever looks. Sneaky of them, really. But if you look directly below the score, their is this special place called the "review text", and that is where the reason is hidden. I know! I just discovered it as well! Get this... it's been there all along! In every review! Crazy!
[QUOTE="unrealtron"]I think it takes a little more than that to get a 10. ok, let put it this way: the game improves over the original enugh to stand out on its own, and keeps the quality high at all times. each new level is different and the game doesn't feel repetitive. my review in a nutshell for you.because it´s a great game
meetroid8
It got a ten because it was a good game and they fixed what was wrong with the old. Get to the last few worlds and you will be challenged and you will probably see why the game was given a high school.
Also nintendo did something with this sequal that most sequals don't follow and that is "don't fix whats not broken" Many things were right on with the first galaxy so instead of changing it they stuck with it and just went up from there. Its not like the COD, and gear where they almost completly changed it. There are many devs that do this when they change the formula that made the original so good and the second flops.
Give the game more time and you will see why it is so good
The game took what the first one did right, and allowed themselves to get much more creative. Each level felt very different from the last, and the few levels that were similar did enough to make it stand out on its own. While I'll admit that the level design for the first 30 or so stars weren't the greatest, and felt a bit too much like "too much of the same thing" while not making it stand out, that was mainly the tutorial section, and the remaining 212 or so stars more than make up for it, and even then, they weren't too bad, with some more interesting missions thrown in. Also, with things like recording the time, the Luigi ghosts, and stuff like that, it does a pretty good job of giving as much replay value as a single-player platformer like this probably can have, which may not be saying a lot, but at least they tried. I think that the biggest debate is the whole linear levels vs. non-linear levels. It's definitely understandable why some people may like the non-linear levels over the linear levels, and therefore would be disappointed in having even more linear levels than the first one had, but if the reviewer is like me (and based on the score, he is), then he probably feels that linear levels allow more great platforming moments per level than non-linear levels do, or at least he feels that both have their place in the market.
