talk to the people there.....ask (politely mind you) if they have any wiis and if not when they think they might get some more. If they say a week call them up in a week and ask again. keep trying until you get one. That's what i did. I asked he said 2 weeks. i called 2 weeks later they had none but said they had a truck coming in a few hours so i called back later and had them hold it for me.
it really isn't that difficult to do.
it's not easy to just 'know' someone. i've been searching for a wii also, i called exactly 22 places in my local area and they had none, when i asked when their next shipment was, they didn't know. i'm just gonna hope i run into one some day due to luck cuz i don't wanna bother the employees every day.
Nintendo has no control how many get sent to places like Best Buy. Nintendo shipes them to there distributors and thent ehy get shipped to the stores. Nintendo is selling out, but the Best Buy's out there are limiting how many the put in each store each week, holding onto some for weeks with sales like black friday. Your best bet is to go to Best Buy/Circuit city on there delivery days, Sun and Tues where i am. I just walked into a best buy 2 weeks after wii came out last year and got one on a sunday morning. Then i went back a couple of months later to buy one for my dad and did the same. A friend of mine wanted to get one over the summer, so we did the same thing. THey are selling out still, but not as quick as they used to
dude, you have to call the stores and see if they are getting them in or not. it's hard to find one so good luck! the best way is when you have a connection with a person who works at the store so he/she can hold one for you. :PyeahyeahbigN
Im going to call all the stores around me every darn day until I get one.
Spamming phone FTW!

just ask them when they are getting their shipments in and how many they are getting and call them that day so you don't have to call them everyday.

I asked every store when they would get their next shipments, I got the same answer everywhere "I don't know".
So I got no choice but to call them like twice a day.

Haha, man, that sucks! im sorry, i see your point now. my friend went to a smaller city and found one there since noone was looking one in that smaller city or go to a store that doesn't get a lot of customers. you know.

Well, you can do what they used to do at the Wii launch. Go to your nearest Best Buy, Gamestop, etc, and ask an employee when the next shipment will be coming in. Sometimes, they'll say, "I don't know". That's garbage. They know, trust me. Keep asking, or find another employee and ask him or her. Keep it up until you find someone who'll tell you.
Once you know when the next shipment is coming in, come in the store either exactly at or (preferably) before opening time (usually 9-10am). Then wait for the shipment (it'll either come before the store opening, or just a few hours after). Alternatively, call ahead (they may not be able to hold the console for you though, so that's a bit risky).
This method is probably the most reliable way to get a Wii, because if they guy says, "the next shipment of Wii's are coming next Tuesday", then you can pretty much expect that at 10am Tuesday, your nearby Best Buy will be getting a package of Wii Consoles. However, be very aware that at big stores like these, Wii consoles sell at ridiculous speeds. Meaning, if you're even one or two hours late, they could be all gone.
If you absolutely must have a Wii right now and you can't afford to wait another second, I guess you could go online. But be aware, you will never find a Wii at $250. Not even close. The lowest price I ever saw for a Wii online was $300. That was the minimum, most online Wii's sell at around $500. Yeah, you're paying a 100% premium for the convenience of having it right away. Pretty much the only benefit of ordering it online is that it's fairly guarenteed to arrive when you need it, but are you willing to pay $250+ extra?
try ebay seriously .. my bros friend picked 1 up the other night for $340 australian .. which is like $60 cheaper than the normal price n that was buy it now! duffham
Your brother's friend was insanely lucky. As of now (Tuesday, February 5th, 2008, at 6:24 pm, USA Eastern time), the lowest price that I could find on ebay was $265. Ok, I found several at $2, but let's not forget those auctions close in five days, and thus far have only one bid. Those that close within a day have already long since shot up way past the standard $250 (in general I've noticed they tend to close at around $400 - $500).
I'm not saying eBay isn't a good idea. If you can actually find a Wii less than $250 on eBay, then by all means! And if you do, could you buy me a lottery ticket? ;)

Ebay isn't an option for me though.
So ill have to hunt a wii, but I'm not doing this for a month, if I can't find any after awhile, Ill buy something else.

The Wii is an awesome console, well worth waiting for. You should be able to get one in a month if you're patient. Find the locations of all the nearby Best Buys, Gamestops, Game Crazy's, Circuit Cities, and other such electronics stores (do big chains, not little stores, because little stores tend to overprice the Wii by selling "bundles"). Find the stores, and go to each one every time they have a shipment coming in. One of them is bound to have a Wii for you eventually.
Don't give up! The Wii's worth it!
I just walked into Gamestop one day last week and said "I know it's a long shot, but do you have any Wiis?" He said "Yup" and I've never been happier. It's all luck i suppose. Millennium_King
I hate you -_-
