what do you mean the normal DS? the original bulky one? it has a stylus provided with it..

again.. Nintendo won't be releasing a new version anytime soon because they are selling millions and millions of DS units..

Ya dude I know what you mean. I still have the original DS and both of my styluses are ruined. Now I can't find any anywhere and I ended up buying DS Lite styluses. Also, a combination of me being lazy and lack of importance meant that I really didn't want to find them online.

Whatever a redesing is...:D

But if you mean redesign, then I am against it, because I've had my DS for less than a year and I don't want to buy some new redesign of one anytime soon. And the DS still has yet to bulk up its library with REALLY GOOD QUALITY games. Sure the DS has a lot of games, but how many of those tons and tons of games are actually worth playing?

And the DS is fine how it is if you ask me.

I'm not at all surprised. Companies and businesses have to innovate, especially with technology. The DS Lite has been out now for almost 2 years... and the DS hardware for quite a while now. Yes, the lite is still selling, but nowhere near the rate as it was last year. I think it is genius for Nintendo to announce a redesign, maybe get some more people "pumped" about the DS, and keep riding the momentum. They could announce the redesign (or maybe a new gameboy for that matter) to be released around the holidays. Nintendo isn't going to alienate current lite owners anyways if it is a redesign... it'll still be the same formula (especially with GH on tour coming out this summer). If anything, they may end up releasing a DS with some more media functionality. Also, a redesign, no matter what, sells at the beginning of its lifespan. Game developers know this and will in turn make more games for it. If anything, think of re-energize when you hear redesign. No matter what, it'll be a good thing.

Why would a redesign force you to buy it? I never bought a Lite when it came out, and unless this new redesign is required to play future DS games, I probably won't buy it, either.

Wow, another forum thread about the Nitendo DS's "new redesign"..

Firstly, I don't feel anything about the "posible DS redesing" because I highly doubt Nintendo would bring out a new model for the hell of it. I also put this question to you.. what design? I've seen 3 different designs for the DS that are supposedly "legitimate" just in the past fortnight.

Secondly, even if this new design DS were to become a reality I would still keep my DS Lite because I doubt they would change the game card format. If however Nintendo did change the format I probably still wouldn't get it.

Thats my two cents..

Who cares??? If anything, they'll just have a few more hours of battery life, and BRIGHTER screen (dear god, don't people get seziures yet?), the GBA games will probably be sticking all the way out, and you'll have to fold it some odd way. I won't mind because the DS Lite will become cheap used.

And if you lose your styles(es), carry a clicky pen, thats what I do, and I never run out plus they work much better from size.

I like the idea of a redesign. But id only like it if they did more than just make the ds look different.it would be nice if they could add bigger screens especially the top one with higher resolution for video playback. Also better speakers would be nice especially since there is an official mp3 coming for the ds. Ive heard music hrough the ds speakers and it aint that good.

50 50 ,, it depends on if theres any major upgrades,

i just bought my 2nd ds lite 6 months back ,, and they just released a blue and black one ,, why ,, im cluless as to why they would unless its a whole new ds ,, wait til e3 ,, i dont think we will see a new ds redesign ,, how smaller do you think it can be, small enough to fit in my wallet , i can dream lol , but ya unless theres significant changes and or my current 6 month old ds lite desides to do what my white ds lite did ,which is only a year old , chances are it will,, it only takes alot of use to ruin a ds, and i use it well i used to use it alot,

You can stil get stylus sets cheap online.

In any case I don't really mind. What I am interested in would be: how much can they improve it? Price difference in relation to the DSL? Features added or taken out.

As I recall the micro was intended to only sell small amounts anyway, hence the really limited manufacture. Nintendo wasn't expecting SP style sucess.

That's what I'm saying. If you have to have the redesign to play some new DS games that don't work on DS Lite, then I'd have to buy the new DS.

Geez wtf...

just because a redesign may come out soon doesn't mean you have to buy it

personally I'm excited for this redesign instead of a new color

The rumors are coming from this article. I'm not surprised to hear about a re-design since Nintendo is always re-designing their handhelds. At one point the rumor was the DS Lite would have a built in camera. Eventually, I see them going to a disc format to hold more data. I doubt this will be the case this year, but I think bigger and brighter screens will most likely be the case this year. Also, it makes sense to have a re-design with shortages of the DS being claimed, although I see plenty of DS's in my area. People who desperately want a DS will go ahead and buy one, and those who want to wait and see what the new design will be like. I still have my Phat DS and have been waiting for a re-design worth purchasing.
