theres a couple i might get, but it'll take me till past Q1 to play all the games i want to play that are released this year. i generally buy games a while after they come out (for a lower price) so i'll probably play NMH2 and such next summer or fall.

Yeah but I pretty much doubt 100% that Zelda is next year. Same early reports are already slating it for 2011. Just as I knew they would. No way could it be done next year if at this year's E3 it wasn't in any semblence of a showable form and no real information other than that it's called Zelda was spoken about. Definitely not 2010.

Let me correct you on a couple of things, one at E3 Miyamoto said the game was on track for 2010, which meant it may come or it may not come next year. Than in that interview last week, the host GTTV said "you guys have Zelda Wii next year" like it was a guaranteed thing. Now obviously Reggie could not just let him say that because the fanbase would take that as a confirmation of Zelda next year, so he said that Zelda was not yet committed to next year, which means it may come and it may not. The stance on its potential release has not changed at all.

And when it comes to not showing it at E3, well that doesn't mean anything, remember we didn't see NSMB until E3 either and that comes out in a few days. And before you say its not Zelda, yeah Mario is going to sell more copies than Zelda. When it comes to major releases, it doesn't get more major than Mario. Nintendo seems to have a new system of announcing things, remember how close to launch Punch Out was announced and especially Excitebots. They don't seem to want to drag things on like say Square Enix does or they had to do with Twilight Princess. Also there's a good chance that both Other M and Galaxy 2(especially the latter since it sounds just about done) will be released before E3. Freeing them up to try and really push Zelda(mostly to the Japanese market where it needs a push) showing it off with WM+ etc etc. I say there is every bit as good of a chance of it releasing next as it has of releasing in 2011. So I would say its 50/50.

I totally see what you mean. I'm not saying that it's officially reported or been stated by anyone at Nintendo that it's going to be 2011. However based on the Zelda and Nintendo track record, common trends and just my personal if educated opinion, given that it's not commited to 2010....I can only see it being 2011 with how far along I believe it's not.

As far as NSMB being shown at this year's E3 and announced to still release this year, well NSMB is a relatively simple game compared to the next major console Zelda release. Nay, a very simple game by comparison. Not to mention it was in a very playable form. Much farther along than Zelda must be given it could only barely be talked about let alone shown or previewed. So I don't see it as a fair comparison. You have a simple to develop game using light tech that was very very far along, compared to an epic, non-linear, hardware pushing 60 -70 hour game that wasn't in any showable or mentionable form. You pickin' up what I'm puttin' down? Also mario games as a whole might sell more than Zelda. Galaxy 2 could likely sell more than Zelda. But I don't think it's a sure thing NSMB will sell more. Sure it'll be a huge seller, but the next Zelda will probably sell in excess of 3 or 4 million. More than Twilight Princess.

While I'd prefer Zelda to release next year, and I'll admit that without a 2011 confirmation that sure it's possible for 2010, all signs point to 2011. At least for now. If I were a betting man I'd let ride on 2011 ;)

Might get MH next summer for my birthday, and I might get Red Steel 2 because it looks good and it'll be my chance to get a M+, but other than that I'm not too interested.

FIrst off, its a pretty safe bet that NSMB will outsell Zelda, hell it may outsell Galaxy because its an old school 2D platformer which is easier to play and has multiplayer. Second just because they didn't show Zelda doesn't mean its not far along in development, look at Galaxy 2 at E3 they said they could have gotten the game out this year if not for NSMB. Therefore its safe to say that they had been working on it for over a year already; probably since Galaxy 1 without a single word on it, thats less than barely. At least with Zelda they had mentioned the year before that at E3 2008 that they were working on the game. Remember TP came out in 2006, so lets say they started working on the next Zelda in 2007, the end of this year will make 3 years of development. But I will take it further than that, remember TP was due out in 2005, but got a marketing delay so that it could be on the Wii as a brand new game first. Now remember how Nintendo starts working on the next project while finishing up one, I'm sure it didn't take th entire Zelda team to port TP from the cube to the Wii and the GC version was likely done and just sitting there. So its possible that they have been working on this game since 2005, which would mean next year could be entering the 6th year of development. That still doesn't assure Nintendo releasing the game next year as they like to get all thier ducks in a row before releasing a game, Twilight Princess is a prime example of that. However 2010 is still every bit as likely as 2011. I think Nintendo does this simply to maximize sales, they know in gaming its always about the next big thing. Once people see the next big thing they will no longer be interested in whats out there. Since Nintendo titles don't blow the load in 72 hours like MW2 which wont even be in the top 10 come Decemeber, the have to let sales simmer. Announcing the next big thing is a great way to pull the carpet out from a product that has to grow in sales steadily.
