I am a big fan of FFXII for the PS2. I loved it. I'm wondering if I'll like this DS one. I'd like the opinions of other FFXII fans who've played FFXII:RW. Any other opinions are welcome too. Thank you in advance.

Uh, I played it for a half an hour at a friends house. It was okay. If you liked FFXII, you'll probably like Revenant Wings.

if you are open minded and a general fan of Final Fantasy then you find this game fun. I never played FFXII but I have the FFXII:RW and I can say I had fun with this game, fustrating at time but mostly fun.

well... I do not like turn-based strategies (TBS) and I have always wanted to play FF bc I have heard so many great stuff about the plot. With FF12 I was able to do so.

A couple of month back I ask for if FF12 was good. I wanted as a gift for my bro, who is a fa of the series, but I wanted the game to be good for me too. Considering that my bro do not have a DS. My brother liked a LOT. and I LOVE the game. The gameplay is pretty good, there is a good aount of exploring. I could not say how good/bad the plot/story is bc I`m not too far (lack of time).

I think that if you like the series or you enjoy FF12 and its RTS you would like this one. :)

I am currently in Chapter 4, and so far I am really loving what I am seeing from this game. I am a fan of the FF series, and was a bit iffy on this game, especially with it's hefty price tag. I found it under the tree Christmas morning, and although I am not extremely far in the game due to lack of time on my part, I have to say that it a refreshing change to an already fantastic series. I definitely recommend it!

I'm gonna have to be the nay sayer here. It starts out pretty slow and is a far cry from the FF i've loved since I was 8. I love the RTS genre, I love the RPG genre, I don't think this is a good mix of the two. I just finished Phantom Hourglass, so maybe this will let me put in more time and eventually grow to love it, but I think it has some big hairy monster attributes that make it tough to pick up.

It's such a far cry from the norm that it takes 6 battles to stop being constantly interrupted by tutorials.
It's drives directly from FFXIIso the character development is limited to a paragraph in the manual.
The battle system seems a little too simple.

I know I'm gonna get burned for this and people are gonna say "you can't do that late in the game!", but I've actually made a strategy once so far. All other times it was enough to just select everyone and attack and just wait for the dust to settle.

I can't wait for FF:TA2 to come out. I was hoping this would be more on those lines. I guess I should have done more research first.

ve always been a really great fan of FF games, but not because they are FF´s its because they make so little mistakes (dirge of cerberus) i actually own avery single ff game hahaha, probably you wont consider my opinion objective. But i´ll try to be as objective as posibble.

FFXII was excellent, the last part of the game (obtaining the Espers, and leveling up) is really fun, the gambit system awesome!

FFXII:RW is reallly cool as well, you have gambits (in a very simpler way), you have espers (actually you can grab all the espers of ffxii, or at least a whole lot of them, including zalera, zodiark, famfrit, etc). You have quickenings (only one for each character, and everytime youuse a quickening you see a portable version of the animation done in ffxii (you can skip it if you want too). You will end up having a great time playing it throught, and in the end you have cool challenges as well (like a set of missions that remembers you of deep dungeon on final fantays tactics). You even have CG at midgame that are better that PS1 quality.

It have a lot of challenging missions!!!

The things i see as drawback are:

You cant control every uniton its own, because on-battle characters mix up and its really hard to select a single unit to do what you please...

Leveling up at the end of the game its pretty tedious and as far as i´ve discovered there is but 1 place to level at a decent rate (that deepdungeon likeplace)

Overall the game is really cool! and you end up having a great time, i didnt realize and i end up playing more that 40 hours, and im not done yet (a lot for a portable!!!)

I haven´t played FFXII, but I have Revenant Wings for the ds and I really like it, I am a fan of rpgs and RTS and even though the game is a little light on the rpg side the RTS really makes up for it, I would recommend the game if you like RTS, but don´t get it expecting a full fledged rpg it´s more on the final fantasy tactics side.

It's good. I'm at the very end of the game, and I'm frustrated because all the enemies are now level 99. And my party is only level 50! I'm not sure why it jumped all of a sudden... and frankly I don't have the patience to grind 49 more levels. But I got about 30 hours running on it. Up until the very end, It's a great deal of fun.

I think that overall it is a good game but to me the story is the strongest part of the game. I have finished the first eight chapters and only occasionally have found myself thinking about an actual strategy for beating a level, though this is starting to change as I attempt some of the side missions available in chapter 9. So far I've only had to seek help on 8-4, but again this may change as I am running into a bit of a wall with some of the missions. I love the story, the characters, the music, and the environments, and the gameplay is good but can get repetitive especially if you find yourself needing to level grind to get through a section. I'm not a big fan of the sprites either, but I guess they get the job done and can convey an impressive range of emotions at appropriate points in the story.

At this point I am still happy with my purchase but find myself playing the game in shorter bursts lately; when I started out playing this I would keep going until I realized I really should get at least a couple hours of sleep before work.

its awsome.. it has everything from the love stories to the humor... and im only 12 hours 43 percent in...

its something never done before on DS i dont think. Its very action -real-time RPG althought u didnt start useing strategy until about halfway thru..

and the CG cutscenes are awsome

It's great. It's definitely one of the best games on the DS. Very high production values, hours and hours of playing time, and it's fun.

It's a little expensive (ALL Square-Enix games are), but it is worth it.

If you love RTS and FFXII you'll love this game.

I thought it was a lot of fun up until the vaan stealth mission. That just ruined the game for me, have not touched it since.

I got a little stuck there too. I needed a bit of help to get through there. I am hoping that there aren't too many more missions like that one. Aside from that mission, I love the game. :)

Played a bunch last night. It's growing on me. Mostly because of the weapon crafting and the ring of pacts. I'm about 7 hours in and about 34% through. The stealth mission did suck. I ended up putting on sprint and make a few quick dashes got some folks on my tail and then ran for the exit. It took a few tries and I missed the second chest, but it probably wasn't irreplaceable. Anyway, the game is decent. I am using a bit more strategy, but it's still mostly select all, fight this guy. I can't say it's the best FF I've played, but it isn't the worst Final Fantasy either.

Still can't wait for FF:TA2.

I love RW. It is really fun to play, it starts out easy to get you use to the gameplay. Once you get further in it becomes more challenging. It is probably one of my favorite games on the DS.

if you guys got stuck in the stealth mission then I suggest practice a bit more since it's going to get harder from there on and trust I don't know those of you who made it but the final 5 side mission before the final boss are real hair pullers
