How likely is it that I shall receive a faulty Wii U?

I am so paranoid about my Wii U (which, as a Christmas gift, shall not be received until Christmas) being broken.

Mine broke, but we can't have an exact idea of a failure rate for months to come.

Like any piece of technology there is always a chance but usually a very slim one, but as far as I am aware there have been few cases of faulty hardware so far since both North American and Europeon launches at least not in any considerable numbers.

Mine is, and it's the most screwed up fault I've ever experienced. When ever I play Mario Bros. U, if I try to play Story Mode the WiiU switches off at the point where Mario & Co are flying though the air after been thrown by the arm from Bowsers AirShip(It also happens in the same cutscene if I leave it sit on the start menu). This has happened with two different copies of MarioU, on the same system, so IDK what the hell's going on, every other game I have works fine.

I don't have NSMBU yet so did you by any chance have to download an update for the game the first time you played it? I know with the 3 games I got at launch I did. My point is maybe something went wrong with the update. Try deleting it from the system memory and then test the game and see of you have the same issue. Then redownload the update. Just a thought.

I did delete it, but when I went to play it again the update just downloaded again there is no way to stop it, and it still has the same problem. Complete waste of money this system.

I believe you are lying. Simply by the fact that the download can be stopped.

Why would I lie about this? I didn't pay £300+ just to say it didn't work. Mario is the main reason I bought it at launch, I WANT to play it more than any other game on the system. If the Download can be stopped, tell me how, as I see no option to do so, there is an option to back up to the main menu, but no option to play without downloading that I can see.
