being the expert on video game shortages that I am, I would say you're looking at 4 weeks, 3 days, 13 hours, 44 minutes, and 54 seconds until this shortage comes to an end.

I love how we all thought the shortages would end March-April.

Who would have thunk it.

Yeah, just waiting for someone to post "They have some in my town so there's not a shortage!!!" I check the stores in my town when I'm there, just out of curiosity, and I still have never once seen them in other than the day I decided to go buy one. Only helps to convince me I'm lucky as hell.

Maybe?

But President Iwata acknowledged the problem that there were indeed shortages.  Its believable considering the DS Lite is still suffering shortages in Japan after a year and half on the market.

I think if you look at the sales it's pretty clear there's no intentional shortage. The consoles are selling. A lot. And they have to supply worldwide.

Nintendo is still trying to catch up.  They didn't expect the Wii to be this much of a success.  By the time they realised their error, and tried to start turning things around, they were already available in all three major territories, and selling out constantly.  If it was just one region they were scarmbling to meet demand in, that would be one thing.  But it's three, and they all want more, more, more!  Hopefully with the green harvest they've been reaping, they set aside a few bails of money to open a new production factory. (or two) Because it's obvious that if their current factories can't meet demand in a slow time like this, that they definetly won't cut in this holiday when Wii is in higher demand and has a much better lineup to boot.

man, that company most be nearly on the rocks... first they cant afford a real next-gen device and have to spoof there loyal customers with hollow inovations... next they cant produce enough of there extra-cheap consoles to sell at least one to all those hyped N.addicts...

A friend of mine just got his Wii at Walmart the other day by mistake. He was getting Guitar Hero 2 and the guy in electronics made a comment about how GH2 was as hard to keep in stock as the Wii's they had in the backroom. I guess they are keeping them in the back under lock and key in the cage with guns and ammo. So shortage or not, be sure to ask if they have any in the stock room.

Hitomo they make 2.5 Million DS Lites each month. It's called unprecented demand. 2.5 million units is more then any console maker has ever done in a single month. The PS1, PS2 never had a month like that. Nor did the NES.

The wii has sold more in six months then any other console in history. It's once again unprecented demand.

The Wii is in such demand MANY stores use them to boost weekend sales by putting out their flyers with the Wii in it and holding onto some of the stock until then.

Good luck getting the manager to take one out for you though, they can't advertise them and then not have any.
