Hey does anyone else here think that maybe these shortages are being artificially created by Nintendo. It's a great way to increase consumer demand for a product, and by all accounts it's working for N...

Maybe?
But President Iwata acknowledged the problem that there were indeed shortages. Its believable considering the DS Lite is still suffering shortages in Japan after a year and half on the market.

man, that company most be nearly on the rocks... first they cant afford a real next-gen device and have to spoof there loyal customers with hollow inovations... next they cant produce enough of there extra-cheap consoles to sell at least one to all those hyped N.addicts...
Hitomo they make 2.5 Million DS Lites each month. It's called unprecented demand. 2.5 million units is more then any console maker has ever done in a single month. The PS1, PS2 never had a month like that. Nor did the NES.
The wii has sold more in six months then any other console in history. It's once again unprecented demand.
The Wii is in such demand MANY stores use them to boost weekend sales by putting out their flyers with the Wii in it and holding onto some of the stock until then.
Good luck getting the manager to take one out for you though, they can't advertise them and then not have any.
