I want to get a Wii but every where is still only getting enough in to full fill pre orders. How long did you have to wait to get one, and are there any shops that get more in than others?
-15 minutes. I got it on 11:45 on launch day -1. The guys at Gamestop gave it to me early because I was the only one customer to be at the midnight launch.
I got mine a week or two after launch. I waited for 9 hours in freezing cold Canadian weather and it was worth every minute. A week ago I actually saw a Wii on the shelf for the first time. It was the last one (out of 10 that arrived 2 hours earlier according to an employee). I'm sure it won't be long before they become more readily available.
Gamestop is currently taking pre-orders for a Wii bundle on their website. It's around $549 but it ships on 4/23. If you really want one right now and don't mind buying a whole bundle, maybe you should check that out.
I was supposed to pick mine up on launch day, but the launch for NZ was the day i flew back home for the summer... So, i had to wait for two and a half months before i could pick it up, it was just waiting for me... And i'm glad i got one :)
Woke up a Sunday morning about a month ago and started calling places to see if they had any left after the morning rush. One Toys R Us still had 15 after an initial 45 so I just drove on over and got one. Took about little over an hour.
On launch day, I waited 11 hours in the freezing rain outside of a Best Buy, by the end my toes were numb from being outside all night long. For some reason I decided to just sit in a chair with some blankets instead of getting a tent, that was a poor decision, but in the end it was worth it.
 I had some extra cash and was thinking about buying one, checked a store, they didn't have any... checked another one, they had three (had just put them out about 10 minutes before and only had 3 left). There was another guy buying one at the same time and he asked how long I'd been looking... when I told him "20 minutes" he thought I was joking.
