Me, I have 3. One on the top left part of the hinge, one near the led light inside on the right, and the last one is on the right side near the R button. What about you guys?

Take care of those you love...
Don't even have a case for mine but I dont chuck it around so its fine. When I go on trips I stick my DS lite in a sock to protect it. Not even kidding.
I said this before, but i doubt my ds has cracks because I didn't take care of it. I've heard of many cases where the infamous "crack in hinge" has happened to them. I think I remember someone saying that that was the defect for the earlier batch of ds lites, but I'm not sure if that's true.None. I take care of it very well
Nanu-
None. It's covered in DEEP scratches, but there's not a single crack. There's even DEEP scratches on the hinge...
None to speak of. After hearing so many storys about cracks on so many white DS lite models I made sure to get a blue one. No problems so far!
How does it crack? Do you just open it one day then "ah crap" it has a crack?Master-Thief-09
i got one by it falling out of a overheadbaggagestorage on a plane :?
My white one has the left hinge crack pretty much since the first week of the DSlite launch in America. It's never gotten worse so I'm good with it. My silver one has zero cracks. I feel bad for those of you who have had yours crack from defects and take crap about not taking care of it.
I kind of liken that situation to the red ring of death on the 360 and how people think just because your 360 red rings you did something wrong... later MS admited it was a design flaw. Oh wait... Nintendo admitted the DS had design flaws as well do to over tightning of the hinge.
Lastly my wife had a black one that got the whole right hinge issue that has plagued many of the black ones. None of DS system in my house have ever been dropped or missused or used by anyone younger than 28 years of age.
Buddy, it wasn't because of people "under 12" caused it. At least one other person has stated Nintendo admitted it was a defect. plz don't make assumptions. This is why you don't get DS/PSP/cell phones any electronics for children under 12, they just can't handle it.

It's pretty comman knowledge that the White one gets the left hinge crack and the black one gets the right hinge break. Really that should be end of story.
I'll go one step further and say I'm pretty anal about taking care of my electronics and I'm willing to bet I'm more careful than 99% of the people here as I have OCD about it. And yet... I've still had them break or crack. True story.. I have pretty much every case, game and manual for all my games in perfect condition. 99.9% of the CD's or DVD's I own don't have a scratch on them because again I'm super anal about treating them good... and still the DS will crack with no fault of my own. Some people just refuse to believe it until it happens to them.. ala the red ring of death. On that again, it's funny i've actually seen people ripping others about how they must have treated there system bad to cause it. A couple months later I see the "OK well it finally happened to me" post from said person.
My first lite got the standard hinge crack but I turned it on on the store warranty and haven't had a single problem with the new one.
I believe the white ones that had the most problem were the earlier ones like mine. And the black ones best as I can tell are from about 6 months or so after they were released in the US. Nintendo if I remember correctly said the white DS hinge crack happened to about .02 percent of them. Of course that statement came back when they were still saying it was not a rampant issue and only cosmetic. At that point they said they would not repair them as it was not an issue.
Shortly after it got a little attention I think many more people started to complain and they "changed" there mind on fixing them for free. Which they did until not to long ago. Anyway, they've never re-updated there original .02 percent. I would imagine it's because they were never forced to let out the true numbers because people didn't make that big a deal out it ala the RRoD.
I take care of mine and I don't let anybody use it.
People I know always treat my things like crap... like my PSP. They button bash it and they put dirt marks on it.
[QUOTE="RawhideSphinx"]Buddy, it wasn't because of people "under 12" caused it. At least one other person has stated Nintendo admitted it was a defect. plz don't make assumptions. No kids (12) and under don't have the responsibility to take care of there stuff. Scratched games etc..This is why you don't get DS/PSP/cell phones any electronics for children under 12, they just can't handle it.

I've taken good care of my DS so there are no cracks thankfully. It's the polar white, I think it has been with me for about 2 and a half years, or maybe more:)
