I don't know how long there'll be until the next nintendo console, but I can guarantee that the wii will be churning out games for many years to come, as there are millions of wii owners who probably aren't even aware that there will be another console that follows the wii and think it's just a one-off machine they can use to get fit and play tennis etc.
Yeah that would be my assessment too, there are a lot of reasons I hope that is right too because I would really like to see Nintendo move away from the Wii now.Honestly, a solid 1 to 1 and a half years left imo.

You must have alot of questions on your mind...
Anyway, the Wii will last however long Nintendo continues making first party games for it. Once that stops that tells us Nintendo has moved on to focusing on Next gen.

Agree...here's hoping for a new system from Nintendo by 2012.
I'm betting on Nintendo holding out on releasing a new console until 2012. Since 3DS is launching in early 2011, they probably don't want to undermine its momentum by announcing and releasing a new console in the same year. Either way, it's likely that the Wii won't be Nintendo's primary focus past 2012, because it would be to their advantage to release their next console earlier than Microsoft or Sony.

hand held stuff is usually not compared to console..but I believe you're right this time..since they're gonna be selling 3DS at console price.

"handhelds don't compete with consoles" is a lie. both are videogames and both require large sums of money. yes most people have to decide whether to buy a new console or a new handheld.[QUOTE="superbuuman"][QUOTE="1PMrFister"]

The Gamecube and Gameboy Advance released within 6 months of eachother, so it is possible. I doubt it though. I think they will release a new console in November of '12, although there will still be games made for it for a few years afterwards just like every winning console, even if they aren't first party games. The Wii's largest audience is the casual market.
Casual players don't care about HD graphics.
IMHO the Wii is gonna last as long as it remains the best seller in the casual market: as long as it outsells Kinect and Move
Nintendo doesn't have to replace it with a better console...
Nintendo doesn't typically announce many games too far in advance. The fact that only Zelda has been announced so far for next year doesn't really mean much.Well next year there is Zelda which is great but nothing else so I'm calling Holiday 2011
Cruse34
First glimpse of the next generation either at E3 2011 or 2012 latest imo.

They could still always localize Xenoblade, Last Story or the new Fatal Frame to fill empty months. There's also Pikmin 3 left.

Pikmin 3 is a lie. A lie I tell you! If it ever actually does come out, it'll be the last big game on the system. And yeah, I'm predicting a look at the new console at next year's E3.Please Log In to post.
