it will only be popular until the next console (5 years) but i'm sure nintendo will continue to make wiis for a few years after that.....
I say 10 years until they stop production.....Â
A generation is usually 5 years. However, the lack of HDTV support from Nintendo this generation may push them to release a new console a little earlier. 28% of Americans now own HDTVs, and the number will only grow with cheaper technology slated for release later this year.

Plaguester
which is also kind of a good thing, think about it Nintendo makes a console as cheap and popular as the Wii and releases it a year maybe a bit more before the X-Box 1080p or whatever it'll be called...notice i don't include sony...they will still be trying to sell the last 6 million ps3's they made having only shifted 3million by the end of 2008.....
The Average for a console, About 5 year's.
It is barring and Unforseen Situations. it may less (like if Sony does launch the PS4 in 2010 like the SOE CEO say's it will) or more.Â
There's seriously no way to tell right now... Nintendo hasn't brought out any of its well known games beside Zelda, which was fun. But seriously, we can't tell... we have yet to have an online game, Mario Galaxy or Party hasn't came out yet, and everybody is pretty much waiting for Smash bros. If Mario Party or Smash bros flop because of motion sensor, then the Wii will be wrecked by the 360 and PS3.
Im siding with the general consensus of 5-6 years. After that some other nintendo console will come out and the eb and flow of the video game universe shall restart
Also, Wii graphics are so outdated... and yea there's that claim that "it's not about the graphics its about the gameplay". I've played some of the Wii games, and some I just don't mind graphic wise like Zelda or Excite Truck... but if you start to compare Madden or Splinter Cell with 360 or PS3, its so painful to look at. They don't have HD really, the HD component cables hardly make a difference. Many games also have great voice acting, it provides a great deal towards the gameplay. If Nintendo is just sticking with its old ways, without voice acting in it's Zelda games, or Mario games... it's going to blow.
