I think it's inevitable that they do it sometime (E3 is my guess) How do you think its going to improve? I think the realistic way to make it family safe and not a hassle is to have usernames and three questions assigned to each one and to send a request you have to answer the questions or something like that...Also your friends list is as it should be and accesible thru all games once you're friends. First party nintendo games should stay at a strict no stranger invite system but Nintendo should leave it up to third party developers to have open friend requests which would remain exclusive to that game (Monster Hunter Tri). Of Course also now VC, Wiiware and DSiware (3DS VC? also E3??) would all be linked to your Nintendo Account. I honestly think the Wii is going to be coming out with a whole new dashboard (maybe system) soon so how do you guys think it would be redone? Be realistic keep in mind Nintendo wants to keep its online safe and family friendly what would be your suggestions??

For the Wii and DS, it's too late for a change. The 3DS is another story since it's a next-gen handheld. But the 3DS will tell what's going on for the next console.

Yea if you wanna know how Online is gonna work with Wii 2/HD, i'd pay close attention to the 3DS's online, if it has FCs, then we're doomed for another generation!

Definitely along the lines of Xbox Live. It would be cool to have usernames and not friend codes because they are a hassle.

That's impossible. The way things are right now, all they can do is improve the Wii inbox thingie, because the Wii cannot handle GAME updates. Even if they give you a crapload of updates for the Wii's online, old and current games will have the exact same online system, because that's how they were programmed, so, improving the Wii board inbox thingie to allow voice messages and stuff like that would be pretty much useless.

What they CAN do is release more games with better online that have better matchmaking or maybe even circumvent friend codes and tell third parties to do the same.

They need to make it much more like XBL. Their online play is SO behind it really ruins some MP games that could have been ALOT better. (thinks of SSBB)

I think they just need better games. Im happy with the way that wi-fi works, but the games dont even have people register their names (SSBB) when battaling, and theres no friends list or anything like that. They need some basic improvments, but forthe most part, its free so you cant complain

They definitely couldn't do any drastic changes but they could just start letting all future games automatically import the Wii system friend codes into a games friend list. There are a few games that do it and making all future games allow this would make things easier without fundamentally changing the system. Making Wiispeak compatibility standard in future online games would be nice too.

I agree with this. When Nintendo created that System-to-game friend function in Mario Kart Wii, I figured that would become a standard feature for future online Wii games, as it does simplify the process of adding multiple friends significantly. I'm not sure about the games that have followed this practice, but I know for sure it's not present in all games since that point, and that's rather perplexing.

I know it's in both Tiger Woods 10 and 11. If someone is on your Wii friend list they will automatically show up on your game friend list if they own the game. Guitar Hero 5/ Band Hero also will ask if you want to import your Wii friend roster in the game and then if your friends own the game they will automatically show up. It's a much better process that's easy to do with the current system.

all i want is to never have to tpe up and memorize other people wii codes and friend codes and brawl codes and...codes for this and codes for that....nintendos online is a mess. the gotta do something better next time. i thin they could upgrade it, since its on the server side and can easily be upgraded via downloads. either way, its pretty clear that the majority thinks the ninty online could be improved in some way or another....i just hope they actually do something about it instead of waiting until the next gen...
