that game is pretty scary to me especially if you play it with the volume up and the lights out, it's one of the most innovative horror games IMO and as a game itself it's not to bad either oh and if you want it to be real creepy than play it with alow amount of sanity(if u dont know wat i mean by that right now dont worry bout it cuz u will when u play it).

Well, it was never meant to be a horror game, so I wouldn't say that any of it is really scary, but it can get very creepy. It won't make you jump very much or tense up, but it'll make your skin crawl and definitely mess with your mind. Silicon Knights deemed it a psychological thriller because of that, and it's very successful at what it tries to do.

I'm playing it right now, and got impressed with the great and deep magick system.

A shame it was not re-used in more games.

It's scary in an interesting way, because of the sanity effects. I purposely drop that sanity bar very low to see all the sanity effects.

I actually wrote a paper on Eternal Darkness for my Gothic Horror English class in College. The background behind the story (ancient mythos) was pretty interesting when I was researching it.

Um, getting on-topic here, I didn't find it scary, per se, but it was definitely creepy. The bugs on the screen in particular got to me (I don't know why). Oh, and the blue screen of death. That was gold.

I totally love eternal darkness, one of my favourate games. I didn't find it scary but like others found it incredibly creepy. That game fooled me so many times, the deleting of saved games actually made my ex g/f quickly turn the cube off then apologize to me heaps, she was freaked and thought I would go nuts for loosing all my saves LOL. Ahhhhh great game.

the game was really freaky when you play as the girl in the mansion but in the flash backs that you play in its more action but it is still a great and scary game

Not really scary as it is psychological, which is why there are plenty of Lovecraft references.

Awesome game. I only bought it a few months ago. I wasn't scared the entire time, but I sure would if I was a few years younger. I got scared from RE0 even. :p The game was creepy though when you lose alot of sanity. Especially this one part, which I won't give away. I loved the game, however it screwed up my 1000 memory card! I thought it was a sanity effect but after playing this game, all my files were corrupted. Every game I play my file can't be loaded. If I were you, I'd play the game with a memory card with not alot of saved files.

It's more Silent Hill than Resident evil.

The game doesn't have many cheap quick thrills but rather drives you mad in the long-run with it's creepy atmosphere and mind torture.

I find it funny that he clearly said NO SPOILERS yet you managed to throw in one of the best parts of the game, hilarious

To me, it was more creepy than scary. While that's not exactly the most pellucid definition of what I mean, I just found that the game made me think a lot and it was a game that kind of makes you think a lot more after you play it. It's one with a great, original storyline and I like how it keeps you on the edge. It's not something where the moments are more forgettable (such as in a zombie horror game) but this game is so unique and told so well, it kind of gives you the chills thinking about it afterward, and occasionally while you play it. :) It's really a fantastic GCN classic.
