I am looking to add more space to my wii hard drive, as my wii's memory is almost full from virtual console games. What is the best way to do this? I would prefer not to have to delete and redownload my games, so if I buy a memory card, will I be able to add more games to wii and still have them all show up on the main wii dashboard?

Are there any tips for ways to handle the wii's limited memory or extend it?

Thanks!

The only thing you can do is add SD cards. The Wii supports up to 2gig cards, and yes, games can be downloaded right to the SD card and they will show up on the Wii menu. I haven't had to buy an SD card yet myself, but that's the only option as of yet.

What does a 2gig SD card usually cost? Which is the best one to buy? How many games will that approx hold?

First of all, the Wii doesn't have a "hard drive". Instead it has internal flash RAM like flash drives or those tiny iPods.

Second, there is no way to get extra storage for the Wii. Nintendo refuses to admit there is a problem and doesn't want to release an external hard drive for some odd reason.

Don't bother with SD cards. You can't even play games off them. They are just used as storage, so you still have to switch games in and out. It's still an inconvenience. It's just slightly less inconvenient than redownloading everything.

The reason is fat32 partition support. Most SD cards over 2 GBs are SDHC (or Secure Digital High Capacity). There are a few regular SD cards that are 4 GBs, but they use some trickery in the way they are created and might not work with everything. In order for the Wii to support more than 2 GBs, Nintendo just needs to release a firmware update that allows the Wii to recognize fat32. Fat32 supports partition sizes greater than 4 GBs. This will give you some good info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card#SDHC.

Even with a 2G flash card, it's still 7000+ blocks, about three times the Wii's memory. SanDisk makes nice SDs- if you can afford the $50 price tag. ;)

According to the Wii Update website the latest update: - Enables FAT32 support. - Enables the Wii to support up to a 32 Gig SD Card - Adds an SD Card Menu - Adds the ability to download games directly to the SD Card - Adds the ability to play games directly of the SD Card. - and more. I haven't tried any of these new features yet, but I plan to today as my Wii is out of memory! Hope it's as good as it sounds! Akempwill
