how to turn off your wii

while playing my brothers wii i noticed i could turn the wii of with just the remote. (power light is red), but on mine whenever i try to turn it off with the remote the screen turns blank but the power button is orange and i have to hold it down for a few seconds for it to turn red. does anyone know how i can change this. i checked through all the settings and didnt see anything, but i may have missed something.

turn wii connect 24 stand by mode off

orange = wii connect 24 is on

red = wii connect 24 is off

Green-Wii is On

Orange- Wii is off connected to Wii-Connect 24

Red- Wii is off not connected to Wii-Connect 24

Your brothers isn't connected to the internet that's why. You seriously didn't know you could turn it off with the remote? >_>Duckman5

haha, ya i new i could turn it off with the wiimote, but i didnt know that being connected affected it.
