Maybe a Million copies, but it depends. Nintendo needs to really advertise it, so far only hardcores really know about it... if they want to 'expand the audience', they need to get it out to casuals as well, and to people who own a PS3 and 360, to show them why its so good, and that experience can only be found on the Wii.Haziqonfire
they did come out with that free preview, that convinced me! But, you're right, they need to advertise generally, even to other consol gamers
Id say over a million easy. The new preview will get the word out because every wii owner got the message mtb727
But not every Wii owner downloaded it... ontop of that, they compressed the video A LOT, making the games visuals look terrible, turning off many.

On top of that alot of people don't have it connected to the internet...I know people.
i think more than a million, almost every wii gamer will have it within the six months, the rest will get it within 3 years, and almost no one will never get it.llama1107
joking right? most of wii userbaseare casuals that even know what metroid is.
I agree with the statement about how the Metroid Series is as good as the Halo series. But some how metroid always gets left in the dark. I remember back in the day when kids would praise the likes of Mario and Sonic. Now you hear kids running into videogame stores praising Master Chief. Its kind of sad being a veteran gamer like myself to see the glory heros of the gaming world over thrown Master Chief. Althought that rant was a little of subject just felt needed to be said. I think Metroid will do very well. Easily selling a million in 6 months if not sooner. I live in Dubuque Ia and every wii owner i know is pumped and ready for this awesome title.

Wii Code (probably should know it but i dont :l)
Not as well as it should. Metroid Prime series is just as good, if not better than the Halo series, yet it doesn't even sell half the copies Halo does.16bitkevin
You can't compare both series since they aren't in the same genre.
Metroid Prime 3 shouldn't have too much trouble selling at least 1 million considering a lot of people are dying for a good shooter. If Nintendo wants it to sell more, they are going to need to really start marketing it outside of the main fanbase. Its nice that they released those promo videos last week, but most of the people who watched it are people who are already planning to buy it. There is a large portion of Wii owners who, like some others have pointed out, don't know what Metroid is and haven't bothered to get online.
If Nintendo doesn't advertise it as much as necessary, then I'm sure that word of mouth will get the job done. Like someone said (I don't bother looking up), this is probably the first solid title we've seen for the Wii in a long time, and probably one of the few great games built from the ground up that wasn't a Gamecube port, or originally planned for the Gamecube. People are definitely gonna tell their friends about this and show it to them (I know I am). And if casuals get their hands on this and like it, that could help the casual market learn more about this game.
I'm pretty sure Metroid will sell alright. And if it doesn't, at least we still get to play it.
As long it doesn't be ported on GameCube like some people on the GameCube board wants, I'm sure it will sell at least 1 million. chris3116
lol .. people on the GC board want it ported? .. well.. Nintendo isnt going to do that.

Yeah, I've been arguing with them for a week about it. The actually think it could happen.

yeah, but word of mouth aside, which im sure will help sell copies, imagine how many MORE copies they could sell if they just hyped it. i totally agree that metroid is better than halo in gameplay but thats never pointed out in the media frenzy surrounding it. if nintendo could do that for metroid, it could sell 10 times better
I'm praying that it does as well as the first. If it does that well, I think we can expect a bigger hardcore push from 3rd parties. As far as I'm concerned, there are two reasons why there hasn't been such a push yet:
1. Nintendo has been downplaying their rather large selection of hardcore titles.
2. Manhunt 2, the game that would have defined the term "hardcore" on the Wii, was banned. I think that, had this game released, it would have achieved critical and commercial success on the Wii, enticing developer to make mature games for the system.
manhunt 2 is still going to come out im convinced of that cause take 2 promised that it would be released, but yeah, this MUST sell well, or else im afraid the hard core crowd might be in some trouble.I'm praying that it does as well as the first.
