I dont see what there is to complain about Nintendo - they are doing everything they can, and have released some fantastic games that hark back to the NES era. Their upcoming releases are awesome aswell, its going to be a good future!
The only problems I have had with Nintendo is their unwillingness to localise certain games.
The rest is a fault with third parties.
I'm very happy with my Wii and have over 40 games for the system. However, I would like it if Nintendo used the huge profits they've made with the system to invest in software development. Create new studios, make new franchises... Maybe even create competition between their internal studios. "Wiiware game. Complete creative freedom. You have 6 months and unlimited funding. Go. Winner is whatever game Miyamoto likes best. Will get released on Wiiware"
Right now they're doing terrible but the good way to look at it is that they can only go up from here
Their new titles this year are 50/50 remakes to new games and their hold on the market has changed where they aren't the dominant force they used to be and are now playing the same game "others" are.
From now going into next year is meant to revitalize the Japanese market and then start to mend wounds in North America
We'll know how the rest of this generation will play out for Nintendo by next summer.
So this gen they've been superb then dropped to good and now dropped to terrible but anything can happen to change that course in the next 9 months
"Fairly well" is how I would put it at the moment. Really, my only gripe about Nintendo thus far this gen would be this year (and mostly the first half of this year), but I still blame that in large to how Nintendo handled its top franchises at the start of this gen. Other than that and the NOA's handling of a few game localizations (most of them were questionable at best in quality, which does make not bringing them to North America understandable), I can't really find too much to complain about in regards to what the company has done this gen. Managing 2 systems that are both extremely successful and aimed at a very diverse audience is a task that isn't easy, and Nintendo has done pretty darn good at creating content both established and new that have not only been successful, but have given a new light to the industry.
They are doing alright. Could definitely use a new zelda, f-zero and star fox. Mario galaxy 2 looks great, as does new super mario bros wii.
As well as a new Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Pilotwings, Paper Mario / RPG, 1080 Snowboarding, Wave Race, Balance Board Wario Ware, Pikmin. In fact, Nintendo has so many untapped franchises, and such a great ability to come up with new IPs that Im kind of disappointed with the fact we are getting more Mario, Zelda and Metroid. But only a bit ;)They are doing alright. Could definitely use a new zelda, f-zero and star fox. Mario galaxy 2 looks great, as does new super mario bros wii.

They are NOT living up to my expectations......... Modern Warfare Wii will be the only title in the FPS category that i think is going to OWN this gen on Wii ( Resident Evil series not included :P )
I answered Perfect! because I was answering the question in the topic. They're obviously doing well, making crap loads of money.
Then I reread the poll question, and I'll have to say pretty solid. Currently they don't have much else coming soon, but by next year they'll be doing fantastically.
The number one area where I feel they are struggling is in their image. Mostly amongst hardcore gamers and within the very industry in which they exist and basically created. They aren't taken serious and the people who should care the most just...don't. That hurts when great games like Dead Space and Madworld release but don't sell super well. They need to work on that image stat. I hate trying to defend who they are wnd what quality exists for the console when...I basically can't! A lot of the cases you can make against the Wii I can't even defend. It's sad, but I love the Wii and know how many extremely excellent games there are and that keeps me satisfied.
Modern Warfare Reflex looks terrible, and besides, Nintendo arent really known for making FPS.They are NOT living up to my expectations......... Modern Warfare Wii will be the only title in the FPS category that i think is going to OWN this gen on Wii ( Resident Evil series not included :P )

hahaha how did i know that one vote for terrible was you? Anyway i think Nintendo themselves are doing great, but the console as a whole is doing OK mainly due to bad 3rd party support. nintendo always makes amazing games, but nintendo by themselves cant make the Wii an epic success.

Third parties on the other hand... few of them are making good games for the Wii.

i think there doing just fine game wise
but with their online system it is annoying the hell out of me
just the stupid friend codes and i never have a clue who the hell is online
thats all i need
i think they're talking about first party releases, not overall releases quality. so yes, unfortunately you spent a lot of time making this big list for nothing :P Don't worry it was just a cut and past from another post where someone thought a list would be worth something... it didn't work there either. They started out good, they got worse. They are scrapping the bottom of the bucket right now... don't worry they will complete the rehashing with a few more key titles that we have seen every gen since forever. And then some of us will actually buy the next console when it comes around. For me though, they are still providing an interesting game I'm looking forward to Metroid: Other M. That's about it though...[QUOTE="Darth-Samus"]

Some impatient gamers willcomplain about the lack of "hardcore" games on the Wii, but the Wii has done something indispensable: made games more mainstream. Not only that, but they still come with the occasional brilliant games, like Galaxy, Brawl, Super Paper Mario, MP3, Zack and Wiki, Wii Sports (admit it, it's fun), No More Heroes, Dead Space: Extraction and the upcoming games look really good, Epic Mickey, SMG2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a new Zelda game on the Wii etc. However, the DS, my favorite console on the market today, is doing a fantastic job. I have nothing bad to say about Nintendo. Absolutely nothing.
their as good as they were in the nes era
they never failed me ,. as long as mario kart and other amazing exclusives appear im happy
We've got to define what their 'job' is. If it is staying in business, then they're outstanding. If it's satisfying customers, I"m sure it' be al little less than that. Many fans complained about last year for Nintendo. But how do you rate Nintendo's work for the time being and future releases?
I believe Nintendo is doing a great job for different types of gamers.

I would say that they're doing 'OK'. They still clearly dominate the gaming market, and the introduction of M+ is adding yet another dimension of gaming that opens up a lot of possibilities (showcased in WSR and hopefully taken advantage of upcoming games).
However, they had a pretty lackluster year this year. Excitebots and Punch-Out were solid but not really system-selling games. Trilogy is great for Prime fans but wasn't a new game. WSR was fun but it's sort of a tech-demo. I have high hopes for NSMBW, but lack of online may hurt it.
Also, I do think the lack of HD capabilities was a good decision when the Wii was first released, but that was 3-4 years ago and it's starting to bite Nintendo pretty bad. Quality multiplatform games like Borderlands, Modern Warfare 2, Tekken 6, Left 4 Dead 2 and Assasin's Creed 2 are flying right past us. I think more great 1st party games would compensate for this, but that didn't really happen this year.
Next year's lineup looks very promising, though. They can't do much worse than they did this year.
If Nintendo had made an overpowered machine, you probably wouldnt have seen those multiplat games on it anyway.I would say that they're doing 'OK'.
