In my limited experience with it, yeah the UI and menus were confusing.. Seems like they could have done a much more streamlined way of managing everything... Nintendo isn't really known for its user interfaces though.. Sad part is it'll probably stay like this the entire gen instead of evolving and improving.
I'm still waiting for the Wii U Slim to come out with a Wii U pad the size of small iPad. :D
But no, for me, I've had the Wii U since day one and I haven't thought it was too confusing. I dunno, it seems pretty straight forward to me. You will always have that learning curve with new systems though.
It's a little intimidating at first but after some time, it's pretty straightforward. It does need little bit of work and I'm sure some re-designs will happen with time to make it easier to navigate and find things quickly.
