In a quite interesting interview from HV, they mention that for all its, for the most part, impressive visuals in The Conduit, Wii still can be pushed farther. Apparently they have something in the works even more impressive visuals.Personally if you tell me that you can go sightly farther in graphical prowess than TC, it confirms me a lot of things. First, we dont know the exact specs of the wii`s proccessing power(Nintendo didnt fully disclouse them), but even some Wii owners had the idea the wii wasnt capable of next gen visuals(not saying it will reach the HD consoles visuals either). That always puzzled me, since Satoru Iwata and the ATI executives mentioned at the launch of the wii, its graphical capabilities(with MG) were far from being fully tapped upon. Basically, a wii is 3 times more powerful than ps2, in very raw terms, but we saw so few of that displayed, until this very year.

In other words, while wii isnt about graphics for sure, it was disheartening to see so little of its power displayed and properly programed.Im amazed that because it took so many years to figure out(3?), some owners settled with that idea.Im just glad after all this wait to see things that began to make sense.Forcing the wii to show its true capabilities encourages other wii developers to improve to stay competitive(in a lot of ways like the xbox/check early xbox games with late ones). What are your opinions?and by the way, thanks for being so responsive to my polls and opinion inquiries.

PS>sorry link here http://gonintendo.com/?p=83192

"I won't say much about our new property until we unveil it at E3, but I can guarantee that we are continuing to push our technology to the absolute limit in order to deliver experiences that are beyond jaw-dropping."

Now thats a self hype pharse for sure, but one that will get him slapped if it fails to deliver so i will partially take his word. One thing i believe, wii can still do a lot more.

The PS2 can run the engine so I'm not surprised. The Conduit doesn't look all that special graphically, anyway. Also, link?

oh that article was good too, but it also explains, that the engine can adapt to different proccesing powers. In other words, just like Wii can run a version of COD4 engine, it doesnt looks like the COD4 engine of PS360.

Don't remember were I read it but yeah it can. However HV heavily customized the engine for Wii. I'd like to see HV possibly push the art dirrection a bit farther in The Conduit 2 or whatever game they're hyping next. An alien world that includes a lot of the biomass stuff would be really cool. They have a lot going on in The Conduit on a tech level but I'd like them get a bit more complex with the artistic creativity

Just because it's on the PS2 doesn't mean it can run it the same as the Wii.

Same reason why CryEngine 3 is on the PS3/360 but still can't run Crysis as well as PC.

i would argue that on a technical level the conduit has MP3 beaten and galaxy is very debateable (some of the texture work in the conduit like the all seeing eye looks better than anything i have seen in galaxy). but i would agree that the overall presentation in the conduit is not as good as prime 3 or galaxy. the art direction is letting the conduit down. hopefully that is something they will improve on for their next game. its still great to see a dev at least giving the wii their best. HVS may not be a tripple A software developer with a proven track record but there putting a lot of eggs in this basket and they seem to be really giving it the beans. all devs have to start somewhere and maybe this will be the game that gets HVS out of the licenced game business and frees them up to make their own games. i hope that A) its a very enjoyable FPS that builds on what FPSs have done before on the wii. b) assuming that A is true...it gets the commercial success it diserves. if the game delivers a fun FPS with good controls and a nice level of polish (which it looks to be doing) then i will be picking it up. im not expecting it to be the second coming of the FPS (lets face it...no company can do that at the moment). i wish them the best.

well while design is argueable and is fine, its just matter of having that engine working for more appealing designs. In other words, the wii has quite its graphical power on a competent technical level.Design is a matter of talent.Fortunately, that means one thing, its not the wiis limitation a problem, its capable on its own of graphics above past gen.So now developers cant blame on wii limitations for subpar graphics. It now exclusively rests on their shoulders the responsibility.

it's a cross platform Engine and simply means they can use it for the PS2 too but they are not saying the conduit could be put exactly as is on the PS2.

doesn't this belong in the conduit thread?

anyways, i think part of the blame on how many half-baked games on the wii exist can be put on nintendo for not detailing the wii specs properly. the devs gotta go for trial and error on the development. just take a look on that part of the interview that they say how amazed they were when the wii was holding up to every new graph techniques they put into the codes. if they knew such things from the start they would know how far they can go and optimize their development time from that.

but still, i think they're doing wonders. best of luck to them.

no, i thought so for a moment but this is not about the conduit really, is about what the developers admit what the wii can actually do.Apparently all these years wii could do normal mapping ,a common practice in HD graphics, and we had to wait 3 years to see it on this console

The wii is slightly more powerful than the xbox one, so using this concept technically speaking the wii is capable of displaying the following pictures (Doom 3)

if not better. Also the ps2 was a very weak console. Even the gamecube was more powerful than it. Nintendo doesnt need to disclose the specs. The system

specs can be found on the chipset in the wii. If you open up your wii you will see the system's CPU and GPU, RAM etc..

Well I believe that they have every right to brag about their Quantum 3 Engine.

I showed the Conduit to my former roommate.

When a PC enthusiast says "thats an awsome looking game" only means that the visuals are nothing less than spactacular.

Surprising? Not in the least. The Conduit's one of the ugliest games I've seen in a while. Looks like fun, but visually eye-bleeding.

i get it. it isn't about high voltage software alone either. i don't think they're reaching a peak just yet, 'cuz we can assume from the information we already have that the wii is capable of much more (as already stated by the HVS devs). i trully hope the conduit lives up to this huge hype that surrounds it, so that HVS effort doesn't pass by unnoticed.

Although I don't mind the conduit's art direction, I'm sure they could've came out with a few different end results. To me, it looks like they spent quite a bit of time on the character models/weapons, which look good. But as many people have said....the enviroments don't look as good.

I've argued and argued on the matter, that although they do look somewhat bland (the outside areas), Washing DC isn't the most exciting place to visit (visually). Some have also argued that the character models look a little too shiney (vasaline covered almost), I think it's because they wanted the models to look too good. It makes some of the other areas look like they didn't spend any time on them. I guess I can agree with them somewhat, but not totally. I just think the balance wasn't as good as it should be.

But....I think the game will look just fine while we're actually playing it, ya know.... in motion

I'm just hoping they can back up what they are saying with this game, and these new projects. I'm excited because they seem to be trying, but I just hope it isn't all for the money. There are some passionate companies out there...I just hope HV is, and they aren't BS'n about "this untapped" power.

Why do people hate on the Conduit's graphics/art style? Some people seem like drama queens over the subject. I agree the art style could've been better, but even then imo it still looks pretty good for a Wii game. Maybe its just cause its first, and most of the good stuff comes after first.

thats the lowest denominator possible. In truth is probably way more. But is not a bragging element.Isnt illogic that having at least 3 times more power *some* developers didnt have the respect to work with the full capabilities of the machine? Or at least more than half of it?.

I think the work HVS is putting into the Wii titles is more exciting to me than any game in particular. They are really giving it there all to bring us the best game they could bring in there time limit. Its not about The Conduit or there new game its about HVS as a developer. They have a vision for what they wanna do and they are going for it. They wanna be the best third party developer on the Wii so they are putting there hear and soul into this. Heck the first steps of this game were funded by there own money. That means they were making this out of there own pocket just cause that was there goal. You have to give it up to HVS for there attitude toward the Wii I wish other developers were the same way.

I wanna say that comes down to opinion. To me The Conduit is almost as good looking as a 360 title where as others would say that its ugly. It all depends on your eyes. Watching this game in action over seeing still pics...in action looks much better it was the same with MP3 was crappy pics very not crappy videos. I think also MP3 and SMG were both different styles. The Conduit is going for realistic and they are doing a DAMN good job of it in comparison with other Wii titles who went the same direction.

Technical prowess and polish, yes, they can brag. Few are doing what they are doing and so they deserve it. When a large majority of major publisher's games cannot measure up to what HVS is doing on Wii they can brag. Remember were talking about raw power here not the highly debated artistic direction.

I really wish High Voltage would stop bragging about how awesome they are for a change and just go make their game. :P

Technical prowess and polish, yes, they can brag. Few are doing what they are doing and so they deserve it. When a large majority of major publisher's games cannot measure up to what HVS is doing on Wii they can brag. Remember were talking about raw power here not the highly debated artistic direction.

You do have to give it up to them for just being innovative and coming up with something that make most go "WOW thats on the Wii?"

Oh I do. I think they have a right to brag. This small developer is outperforming 90% of Wii games. Nuff said.
