Why do you want exactly 4.1?

Well if you buy a brand new one the most recent firmware will most likely be on it.

More than likely, you'll get either 3.4 or 4/4.1. Chances of getting a 4.2 are rather slim.

If you get a 3.4 or 4.0 and want to go up to 4.1, just buy New Super Mario Bros. Wii and update your Wii with that disc.

Also, keep in mind that the VC/Wiiware store channel will probably force you to update to 4.2 if you try to use it.

Nah. A friend bought brand new one a month ago and it had the 3.4 firmware.

Isn't obvious? The simple answer is that we all know what you want to do with it. That said, we can't exactly answer your question. We don't know if there will be newer Wiis at the store you will be buying your system from. It's almost like you asking us if 'John' will be working at the cashier stand that night. We just don't know.

I bought mine a week and a half ago and I put NSMB in and it didn't seem to have to update. Unless it did it really quickly in the background, because I never noticed anything. But it also depends on where you got it from because they could still have some old stock in.

if it were obvious than he woulda never asked me why i want 4.1 anyways, im relieved to hear that i will not get 4.2. even if i did, there is a program out there that works with it but it costs a bit of money. i dont care about the VC. i got all that stuff on my ps3 anyways

hey.... my name is john

Can't the same be said to you? You didn't answer his question, either ;) The truth of the matter is there's no way of anyone on this forum to know how long the Wii you will purchase has been sitting on the shelf. Yes, you will be forced to update with 4.2 if you try to use the Shop Channel.

So whats so special about 4.1? Does that make it like really easy to hack your Wii or something? (by hack I mean, y'know, ripping off Nintendo and whoever else makes the games and cause them to lose money and have less money to put towards making good new games just to satisfy you because your too cheap to throw out $30-60 for a game because your too lazy to get a job) I'm sorry but I hate when people hack their gaming consoles, and why else would you want to know the firmware?

I may be lazy but i do have a job and i take more honor in it than i would if i spammed some bs freebie website in my sig to people on a game forum. I just happen to have a lot of expenses, more important expenses, such as clothing, a sexy green chilliwack canada goose winter coat, aviator hat and down gloves, beer, food, my girlfriend and ps3 games. and piracy has been around for so long, and it still hasnt slowed down the flow of quality games. nintendo just decided to cater to casual fans instead and stupid developers think people will actually pay for their garbage shovelware. with such a lack of respect for the consumer it's no wonder so many people get offended and decide to rebel by hacking their consoles. had they showed more respect and interest in their jobs and strive to make a quality and creative game maybe people wouldnt mind paying for hard working developers.

with your attitude, it won't slow down. if you don't want to buy original games, don't bother playing them.

If you can't afford to play Wii games legally, either reevaluate your expenses or don't bother playing. Don't hack dude. Thats not cool. And stop being a jerk.

Yes, you can hack your Wii as soon as you get it.

Though don't come crying to us when it bricks.

it's the last update before nintendo did the "we kill evil wiis" update, aka firmware update 4.2.
