Seriously, who is in charge of scheduling what comes out on Virtual Console? They are releasing some of the most obscure, and in many cases horrible games (if not horrible, then not noteworthy) for every system. Are they just trying to milk it? They could be releasing wave after wave of titles that people want (especially first party), but no, we get games like NES Soccer? Shockman!? Alex Kidd? I have no idea why they are digging up these fossils...

Anyone have any clue on how they pick these things!?

Maybe randomly. Everything on the TG16 is new to me.

Of course there are marketing strategies involved, however I do think they could afford to release a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 games at a time. Especially with the untapped libraries of Gameboy, Gameboy Color, NeoGeo and possibly Game Gear. I'm sure they could land Atari, 32X, SegaCD and of course they will start releasing original VC games. The future of the VC looks bright, just be smart with what you buy.

I've only seen a small percentage of games on VC worth buying. Still, Nintendo can't release all it's classics in the first year.

They pick them in this order because it works

I've found that the people who don't like the games have horrible taste in games so we should all be glad they're not picking the release of games.

Also if Nintendo launched all of it's elite games in the first 6 months what brings people back to the Virtual Console in the next 6 months?

The question answers itself

I'm not a fan of Nintendo's strategy on VC releases at all but I'm beginning to understand how it works.  Its all about profit.  They release a whole slew of worthless games with one or two good ones thrown in but people will buy them anyway especially the TG16 games which I know nothing about but most of them are getting scores in the 4 to 6 range.  In time the games we want will come and it would do well for Nintendo to take a page from Xbox Live and start releasing some original titles.

They will be releasing original games on the vc. They will come out this year.

Also guess what a lot of people actually clamor and like those games that have been released that you don't like or won't pick up.

Lots of people are finding that the games that they called crap but never played when they were released are actually quite good.

TG-16 games for example.

they're just trying to make as much money as possible from it i supose. like from the suckers like me who bought street fighter 2 from the VC, and i guarantee within the year, they'll release super street fighter 2 turbo, and suckers like me will get that too.

personally, i hope to see some more of my favorite titles, but as far as i'm concerned, they're off to a good start. Ocarina, Link to the past, Mario 64..those are some great games!...i just hop those aren't the only great ones we see for a while.

i hope we start to see more greats, and less like dungeon explorer or whatever it's called. you know what i'm talking about.

Nicely said. People need to just take a second and think from a business standpoint

I'm skeptical that a lot of people are buying the "worthless" VC games.  If they are, then releasing the junky games first is paying off for Nintendo.  I mostly subscribe to the theory that they don't want to blow their wad and release all their heavy hitters all at once.  They released Zelda Link to the Past, and Super Mario World already, two of the very best SNES games.Â
