You need a sensor bar and Wii remote with either a nunchuk or classic controller. No way to do it with the Wii U pro controller its incompatible with any Wii software

Sad but true, you have to use the wiimote, nunchuk, and sensor bar.

they're right, but I did read somewhre that a third party is making a controller that supposedly works with the Wii U and the Wii software.

The Wii U goes into a Wii mode.

The Wii can't recognize the controller/Gamepad.

There you go, not too hard to figure out once you think of it like that.
