Well, I have mario 64 for my ds, but been thinking of maybe getting 64 from vc. The ds version has some more colorful graphics, more stars, characters, but I dislike the controls and small screen. Should I spend my money on the vc version or just save it for something else>?

dont buy it. mario 64 ds is better. it has better graphix, more stars, morecharacters, and multiplayer. mario 64 is inferior. there are better things to waste $10 on.

If you don't like the small screen, I say go for it.

I hate playing Mario 64 DS, mainly because it's horrible playing it with a d-pad. Yes, it does have more content, but it's just better playing with an analog.

Super Mario 64 is a classic title, but I think the DS version is just the same thing, except minor improvements (graphics, I guess) and some additional game elements (you don't have to play as Mario). I haven't played the DS version, but from what I hear, you should probably just stick to that unless you want to contrast and compare.

I have the DS version and the controls really turned me off of it. If you really love Mario 64 you should get the VC version just to have the primo controls.

For me SM64 has that nostalgia feeling, but for you not, and even so I wouldn't get it........So no, buy something else, don't lose money in something you already played....
