alright, i recently bought my wii and got RE4 and LoZ:TP.

i enjoyed the hell out of RE4, but not so much TP.

right now im at the jungle temple trying to rescue my friends and i dont feel like going on. it seems so tedious, the game. specifically puzzle solving. like for example, at the start of the game, the first time you entered your home village, you have to catch a fish for the runaway cat. it took me a hella long time to figure out how to get the fishing rod from your friend's mom. maybe its just me, but maybe im too used to PC rpgs where i always have a journal to refer to for reminders and hints. and in the jungle temple i was absolutely clueless as to what the hell to do after i rescued one monkey. this was the first in a very long time where i had to refer to a walkthrough. i broke down (just kidding). not very intuitive, or clear, i feel.

minigames like fishing seem more like a waste of time than anything else.

combat, gfx, and the overall feel is good enough however. platforming is alright. i just dont get the high praises everyone is giving TP though. it just doesnt seem that fun and compelling to play through. and there isnt enough combat. i would give it a 7 or 7.5. i got it second hand at SGD 45 or USD 30.

am i judging it too early? what do you guys think?

also, should i get RE:UC or MP3.

It's a bit of a slow start, but it picks up. There are extemely good temples to plunder in the second half of the game like the Snow Peak Ruins or the temple in the sky. Keep at it.

If you felt the puzzles were tedious, then it seems as though you just aren't a LoZ fan in the first place.

Well, I think most of us agree that TP started off really slow... but the first three dungeons in any Zelda game are almost always like that.

No offense, but I think you just suck at puzzle solving. The challenge of the puzzles is what is fun about Zelda games, although I will admit that the cat thing was overly difficult for being the "tutorial" area.

Well, of course there isn't enough combat... the rate at which you experience combat is directly connected to the speed at which you solve puzzles. However, there's a certain way to approach this game that you will learn as you play. As you gain experience, progress becomes easier, and combat more frequent.

The game picks up just before the beggining of the 2nd dungeon (or it did for me), and defintely gets going by the end of the third. It is slow to start and very linear to begin with.

I also got stuck for ages on the fish thing, didn't realise all I had to do was stand back from the shore a bit...

thts a shocking thing to ask!.. btw, just so u know, theres a disease called Huntington's disease, which is purely genetical, and the typical age of onset is 20-25 with a life expectancy of 5-15years after that. ur parents do not have to have the disease, since the mutation occurs during conception. no symptoms are present before onset. so infact, u could be "special" too.....

For me Zelda could definitely be better. I don't have the patience to read in a video game with what I think is a weak story. Zelda shined to me when I entered Dungeons, but another big beef I had was that I kept getting lost and not knowing what I needed to do. I understand that all the text can't be spoken and that Link will never speak but I feel that main cut scenes and important events NEED VOICE. They did a 9/10 job with this in MP3 the one point taken away do to the Energy Cell crap towards the end and the lack of info to help you find them, other then that I always knew what I was supposed to be doing. I'm all for hard games, if it takes me 3hours to solve a Dungeon I'm still happy, but when It takes me 1 or more hours to even find that dungeon or figure out that I need to go to that Dungeon I have a problem. This is all coming from a Big N fan-boy too, I just feel that in this day in age those kinds of smalls flaws are unacceptable...

All i can say, they need to make it more challenging. TP was a great game, next to OOT IMO; but kinda fast incompletion with all side-quest/heart piece. I didn't even use a FAQ, thats kinda too simple.

You sound like you're just not a Legend of Zelda fan and you would rather play something more straightforward. You probably wouldn't like Metroid Prime 3 either because it's not a straightforward shooter and focuses more on exploring and finding items rather than just being led into firefights like other shooters.

Zelda got high praise because it had solid gameplay and the game (with sidequests) lasts a good 70 hours but if you don't like the whole idea of exploring and solving puzzles than it isn't for you.

Its funny how fans think it isn't hard enough yet gamers new to Zelda till find it hard. The pacing being slow early on is something you have to put up with in a lot of adventure games, I can't say I find Zelda games take too long for things to pick up.

Well I don't think he'd go complaining on a message board because he can't figure out a simple puzzle if he does get it.

Uncalled for.

Seriously.

Well he doesn't know how to do a simple puzzle, it's a legitimate if sarcastic question

The forest temple was cake

My 7 year old nephew figured the first of the game out fine

Same thing happened to me. It really picks up right after the second dungeon. Mabye you should ask a friend (if they own a Wii and TP) or check a FAQ.

Give it some time, if this is your first Zelda it may be seem tedious at first, but puzzle solving is some major part of the franchise. Even if you go for MP3:C, you'll find a lot of puzzles as it is part also of the series.

Keep going!

This must be your first Zelda game, because it is not so difficult compared to the past Zelda games. Maybe you are used to games like sports and world wars FPS in which you don't have to think at all. Don't worry, you will get used to these kind of games and enjoy them. And if you still beleive it is difficult, just play Zelda for NES and A link to ther Past, they are much more difficult.

yes, this is my first zelda game. long time PC gamer since i was little.

its not that i find it *too* difficult or anything, im just too used to relatively more straightforward quests/puzzles like in PC RPGS. so i get abit confused.

and to the guy who asked if im special, do you think you're funny? just asking.
