[QUOTE="effthat"] Two games compared to how many on the Wii?
I checked out the screen shots for Viva Pinata and I'm not impressed. Yoshi's Island (3 generations ago) used that same palette section and pulled it off much better.

First of all, hardly any non-Nintendo games have the "whimsical colors" you're talking about. A lot of them just look like crap.
Second, that's flawless logic there. Say all the 360/PS3 games look bland, then when someone brings up a counterexample just write it off as "unimpressive."
I think what he meant by was that the art direction used in mnay 360/PS3 games are geared more as monotonous. IMO, I love that tone and I wish Nintendo used it more often. Makes the game much grittier.
Secondly... Nintendo has been known to have their games more directed toward a large audience. Any the art direction chosen for many of their games is usually a palette than most children and parents would approve of.
I dont have a problem with that either. Specifically though. PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii can't do better than each other in the field of colors. Why do I say that? Because 1: it's really dependent on the TV, if it can display tru 16.7 million colors. 2: The color depth in all of the system's graphics cards are standard 8-bit.
Technically, one is just as capable of producing as much color as the other guy. It's just the art direction which most fail to mention.
