Yeah, Im still gonna call though to complain and/or try and get a replacement because I don't want to have it ending up broken in half sometime down the line.
The hinge of my DS Lite have had this black little line over it for about a year now. I think it's one of those cracks, but I don't really care.. It doesn't seem to get bigger.
Well I called nintendo and since im in Washington and live like 10 minutes away from Nintendo of America's headquarters they told me to just bring it in and they'd exchange it for a new one. ^_^

people who constantly open and close the DS Lite for un-necessary reasons will get a crack. Or if you open it up all the way 180 degrees and treat the thing like a flimsy toy then you'll get the same results. I see people drop it, swing it around in their hands, open it up like it's made of metal plates. Stupid sh*t like that will eventually bring damage to it. Lucky for everyone Nintendo is kind enough to exchange it, if it was me i would treat it like i wouldn't be getting another one. I have a couple of dead pixels and i ignore them....people on here complain about a couple of dead pixels and start calling up Nintendo. Shut up already.

mine is cracked too but i am careful now and dotn strain the hinge, i hope it wont crack in 2 though. u should take it back i may but i like my discolored right arrow and the scratches down the middle of the touch screen from meteos... those are markings of good gaming memories... my gb pocket iss totally wrecked but all the wear and tear makes me like it more.

Sorry but the cracked hinge is a design flaw of the early DS Lites and Nintendo acknowledged it as such. The users aren't at fault - the engineers who designed the thing are. I should know, my DS Lite got a cracked hinge while it was sitting in storage for 3 months. :|

I beat the crap out of my ds phat everytime i lose in elite beat agents, and it doesnt have a cracked hinge or anything! I dont have a ds lite because they suck.

If I'm buying something that's 130$ it better work as it was intended. Seriously. I complained because I had a few dead pixels right in the middle of my screen and I got a new one. If I pay $129.99+tax for something, I expect it to be nearly flawless. Having two ANNOYING black / yellow dots in the middle of the screen is pretty flawed IMO. If you want to spend money on an inferior product, be my guest.

mine has a cracked hinge and i didnt send it back i still have it with a cracked hinge if i send it they will send me a worse refurbushed one so i'm good with the one that i have

You're weird. Mine got a cracked hinge a few months ago, and it hasn't done anything. It will probably never go further than a crack, the hinge isn't going to break off :S
Hey I just got a white Ds lite last friday & it has no dead pixels. About the crack thing if it cracks within 90 days I can still return it to the store. But the thing is I might return it earlier because the game that I got for it blows!!!:cry: FF III
about 4 months ago my ds phats hing broke sliped out of my hands i'm not complaining but i'm thinking about geting a black DS lite but i'm wondering how long it will be untill the next "DS" comes out I mean will it be a waist of money.
