I seriously do, it's just awesome.

Don't know what I'm talking about?
Here let me explain.

For the past 13 years *probably even more* all we've wanted in gaming was bigger levels, better A.I. better graphics, more content! So gaming did just that, all the new big games focased on these things. It's been that way ever since. As you know Nintendo introduced the Wii, which delievers neither of these things, just something called gameplay, and we all know that it's been selling alot better then the other two. Now what I've noticed intresting are all the sucessful games.

Take Wii Sports for instance, many critics gave it 6-7 on the out of 10 rating scale. IGN said themselves if you had to buy it seprately don't because the fact that it doesn't have any extra features. However, they gave Madden a higher score. And look what happened....Wii Sports is literally selling the console, not only that in places like Japan for instance, it is selling better then any other game on the market *yes that includes TP*. Finally as I hear on the forums and blogs people keep playing Wii Sports everyday, more so then they do then Madden. IGN too reallized this when they nominated it for GotY instead of any other sports game. Now this confused them when them, why is Wii Sports better? I can't give it a high schore because it doesn't have anything that a good game is suppose to have like good graphics or presentation, and it doesn't have any extra features, yet I play it more and have fun in it more then Madden.

Next up is Twlight Princess. Critics complained about it not having any voice acting or orchestral scores. Yet, the game is the 15th highest rated game of all time, actually it's tied for the 14th and LMAO with what it's tied with, long being GameSpoters will KNOW what I'm talking about. *The two most complained reviews of all-time, besides Shenmue of course*

http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/simpleratings.asp

It's even higher ranked then WindWaker, which for it's time had more wow in size, presentation, and graphics then TP did. Yet TP is ranked higher.

There are also games like WarioWare that some will call a shallow minigame collection that scored AAA.

The point I'm trying to get across is that when looking at a game most people look at content and other things because they think this will get them more for their money, which is completly false. What really matters is how much fun you have with the game and how much you want to play it. If I held in my hand Enchant Arms for the 360 and Final Fantasy VII for the PSone and priced them at $60, which would you rather buy. Many would look at Encahnt Arms, but in reality its not the right by since you'll be replaying FFVII more and having more fun with it. Well that's just the point I'm getting across anyone else agree with me?

Twilight Princess is a different case than WiiSports. As a GameCube game, Twilight Princess is not supposed to represent Wii games as WiiSports does. No complain about Twilight Princess was related to Wii specific features (Wiimote, the will to change and socialize gaming...) besides the fact that the Wii can handle better graphics and sound than the featured in Twilight Princess.

did you get the idea for this thread when you read my post in the "Gamespot's reviews reached a new low" thread?
This is just like EGM's video of review of Sonic. They knocked it down because some of the stages were too hard for them :?. Games have just gotten way easier than back in the day. Easy + long is the way to go ever since the N64 + PS1 + Saturn era. Because of the CD being introduced, developers were given way more space than they were used to working with. So they shifted focus from the core game elements to adding as much content as possible, including graphics. They wanted gamers to be able to see all this content without working too hard for it, so they lowered the difficulty level. Because of this, new game elements are rarely introduced, unlike the 16 bit era where that was what sold a game. This is why we see Halo and GTA clones all the tiem... publishers wont produce a game that isn't a copy of a recently successful game. Basically, a gamer's challenge motivation standard is way lower than it use to be.kukukuk
I am referring to the fact that Kid Icarus got a 5.1 because it was too hard btw.

they gave wii sports a lower score than madden because than madden because madden is a deeper game. Wii sports is so popular because it is easy to access and is fun in groups. By the way, reviews rarely reflect the popularity of a game or any form of media for that matter.

If you could find five gamers that would pick enchanted arms over Final Fantasy 7 then i would give you my left nut. a better example might have been final fantasy 12 verses 7

12 is considered one of the best FF ever gameplay wise. I think a better comparison would be Star Ocean III vs. FFVII or FFX-2 vs FFVII.

FFVII isn't as good as people make it to be...although it was. Just like with Zelda, unless they revolutionaize the series big time and make the best Zelda game of all time, everyone will keep saying that OoT is the best in the series...in reallity, its not...but it was.

I would love it if the wii stopped putting out mini game video games like rayman, trama center, and wario ware. Zelda TP was a good start but they can do so much more. Online play would be nice too.

im actually still waiting for the Wii to change PUBLISHERS so that that serious games can be created for the Wii, not a bunch of ports and spin-offs.

Publishers are just testing it. Nintendo hasn't been the most successful in the console business since the SNES. They did the EXACT same thing with the DS, and look at it now. Big titles are being announced, and since the Wii is selling better then the DS in all but Japan *Wii is #2 though* the games will sell good and so will the games. Thus having serious games. Trust me, anyone who brought a DS day one and still plays it KNOWS what I'm talking about.

It's not the fault of the publishers if the developers only make ports.

that is what im hoping for... for the Wii to follow the path of the DS. problem is... the DS man-handles the portable department (and so did its predecessors) while the Wii is more of the comeback for Nintendo on the home console line. i'd imagine that if the Wii runs away with the console sales lead like the PS2 did last generation... then it would be a feasible idea. but if the Wii kinda just ties with the other two consoles, publishers will just push to have multiplatform games for the Xbox 360/PS3 than just a Wii exclusive.

but there is always a push for developers to make games that will sell the most by publishers.

Not really, you have to remember the PSP. Remember that it was a sure "fact" that the PSP would kill the DS? Oh and it did when it came out, then good games started coming out utilizing the system, and people realilzed this and brought the DS. The thing is people already KNOW this for the Wii, so it shouldn't be too long.

I suppose that's true...but I don't think that the real casuals are the ones waiting in lines before stores open to buy one.
