Wii U has a lot of potential, but I've not had anything to play for quite a while now. I really enjoyed ZombiU, NSMBU and Nintendo Land, but I've played them all to death. I only turn on my Wii U a few times a week to check Miiverse and to download/play discounted virtual console titles like F-Zero.
Just hope release dates for Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101 get announced soon.
Both games can easily be done without the gamepad. The gamepad just means they can take information off the TV and put it on the gamepad, and unfortunately, it's not entirely convenient. For instance, I have to look down at the gamepad to see my map while I'm driving in Undercover. I'd much prefer a mini-map on my TV screen in the lower right corner like other sandbox games. I admit, holding the gamepad up to the TV to search around in both ZombiU and Undercover is cool, but again, this is something that can be done on the TV; the character just needs to hold up their device, and the TV would take on the new screen. The gamepad is convenient, but miles away from a necessity.um, if you played zombi u and lego city undercover i'm pretty sure you would change your mind about needing the gamepad

Everything on the pad can be done on the TV screen. Inventory management, scanner, map, pinging for zombies, etc. It would be the same game, and honestly wouldn't feel that much different. Yeah, I agree. The great things about that game have nothing to do with the gamepad. The scene in all of the trailers where you're hastily inputting a code on a door but getting it wrong until just before the zombies get you then you get it right and get through the door at the last second never happens. In fact, I don't think I was ever in a situation where I was looking at the gamepad while a zombie was approaching (except for that one keypad near the burning room where it forces that upon you).
But scanning with the gamepad makes that mechanic much easier and more fun. I love first-person gyro controls. Sniping is the same. They can be done without the gamepad but work better with it.
While not necessary I love having the Wii U gamepad for multiplayer games like Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed so each player has his own screen and you do not have to split the screen on the television.
That is one feature I like. Plus, I also love playing Super Mario Bros. with the pad while I'm resting in bed. While not necessary I love having the Wii U gamepad for multiplayer games like Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed so each player has his own screen and you do not have to split the screen on the television.

I do hope that on-screen HUDs are removed from gaming at some point. There's a certain degree of immersion that's lost when you have health bars, various other gauges and stats on-screen. With all these advancement in visual and aural presentations, HUDs are becoming more noticable.
