I need to save my money until I hit college, which is July 16th. I want a gaming platform since I have nothing as of right now to hold me off unti I get settled in and I'm more comfortable money wise. Do you guys think that the DSL would be a good investment for me? Any somehwhat long lasting games out there?

it is definately a smart investment. i got my original DS last October and it keeps me occupied all the time. its not addictive (so its not like i need to play it every second), but I play it enough that I know im definately getting my moneys worth.

As for great games,

Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros, Elite Beat Agents and any other game with Mario in the title are worth picking up.

The ds lite is an amazing little system. There are tons of great games out there! The ds would be a wise choice.

Yeah.  It is def worht the 129.99  For med-long lasting games, I would go for  Action - Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow(Try not to get the greatest hits version from konami(the cover art is awful), Strategy - Advanced Wars Dual Strike, Music Rhythm - Elite Beat Agents, or import Osu Take Ouendan (1 + 2 are out now!) Fighting - Have to import Bleach DS or Bleach DS 2nd or Jump Ultimate Superstars, RPG - Pokemon or FFIII, Platformer - Kirby Canvas Curse or New Super Mario Bros.

I'll highly recommend getting EBA or Osu Take Ouedan, but for long games go for Castlevania or AWDS or an RPG.

The DS would be a great decision to tide you over until you start collge. If your looking for something that would also be a blast why you are attending school, i would reccomend the Wii. I fell in love with Wii actually by playing one of my buddie's friends who lived on his dorm floor. And at 249.99 It dosent leave a huge dent in your wallet like the other consoles.

the ds would be great, it would give you something to do during class other than listen. jk the psp or ds would be a great decision because they are fun to play anytime, anywhere.

It's kind of a loaded question though. First you say you need to save money then ask if you should spend money on a DS plus some games. Also the DS is not an investment it's a purchase. If you can afford to spend 250 to 300 on the DS plus a few games maybe a screen protector then it's a great thing to have but when you say you need to save money and is this a good investment the answer to that is...

The ds is good if you can accaept standar grphics. If not get  a PSP its way more mature and have better games and graphis overall.

Well, first of all since you are posting in the DS forum i assume most people will recommend the DS to you.  However, yes i would highly recommend the DS.
