And it wasn't that bad. I've seen the reviews and heard opinions and it deservesbetter than it gets... A little better. When I first started playing I was pointing all over the place and couldn't get a hold on things, the controlles arepretty loose, you just have to get used to them. I bet once you play the game all the way through you'll be fine and the game would be better (I only played multiplayer). I'm sure Ubisoft will learn from the mistake in this one and the sequel will be top notch. I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe the first great third party Wii game. So did anyone else think Red Steel wasn't that bad but still wasn't that great... Or good for that matter?

Red Steel made me regret buying a Wii. Thank God for Warioware to make me realize how awesome the Wii is.

RS is filled with bugs and glitches, and the multiplayer isbland and imbalanced. Ubisoft actually apologized for it indirectly, since they said their early Wii games were crap. RS2 will definitely be an improvement.

Definitely not worth $30. Either wait and pick it up in a bargain bin somewhere or just rent it. There are far better games out there for 30 bucks. *cough* Resident Evil 4, Godfather. *cough*

The major problem with Red Steel is that there's absolutely nothing remarkable about the game. Yeah, going through the levels and shooting stuff is mildly enjoyable, and there's some competent design in there, but there are no highlights. Everything is just kind of equally average.

Yeh redsteel isnt that bad of a game. Specialy, come on its the first FPS for the Wii so they didn't know the full power of the system. I buaght it when it was 50$ then 2 weeks later it went down to 30$. I think it is a good game, deserves better than what most people say it is. The second will definitly be better though, and posibly online play will be on there.

The graphics look good, and the gameplay isn't bad. The only bad thing about it is, that it feels kinda rushed. Maybe there was a deadline for finishing this game. Let's not forget this was an early game, probally ment to introduce FPS on theWii. Programming the controls for the Wii is a complete different thing next to the game itself, and can take up much time. Anyway, I do hope Ubisoft has learned from this project and is willing to make a more refined FPS in this style.

Exactly! RE4 and Godfather are perfect alternatives instead of that game. Red Steel was alright but I'd only buy it if it was atleast $20. Oh well RS2 is porbably gonna kick ass though.

I enjoyed playing Red Steel. Picked it up about 6 months ago for like $30 bucks and thought it was worth it. I had fun shooting things up and the multiplayer was enjoyable. I thing is for sure though, I would not have payed $50 for it.

Yay! I've totally enjoyed this game since launch night. I think one of the things that hurt it was that people weren't used to the Wii controls at all let alone for an FPS. Now that it's been almost a year and several FPS's have come out and Metroid was so glorious people now understand how the Wii applies to shooters.

As an aside while yes thegame was glithy and incomplete and the graphics were a little meh in spots...pretty meh really, honestly I think that there are quite a few locals that look great! Since you only played the multiplayer give the campaign a shot. It's long and varied and the graphics get better at about the third are. Man the sequel will be so bad ass!!

The beginning of the game isn't that great and the controls were glitchy...in the beginning. There was a point in the game where certain momvements didn't send the game into a glitchy frenzy and the graphics while not great weren't painful to watch either. The game deserved higher than it got but not too much higher, I managed to finish the game up in a rent.

Exactly, its fun. Then you finish in 8 hours and don't care. Then you sell it. RS2 will be better.

They rushed Red Steel 1. Heck the team had never done a fps before and they had to design the sucker from scratch. Tell me had someone ever done a game with the red steel mechanics? Nope so how well do you expect it to be? They did a far better job then teams of so called professionals have done on games.

People seem to honestly forget what the first year of any console especially a console that represents a major shift in gameplay brings. N64 was the first 3D console and how many games nailed the control scheme off the bat? Super Mario 64 was the only one at first. Most other game developers stumbled around their first year, 2D to 3D. That brought an entire new control scheme and to manipulate a joystick for moving around 3D was something developers hanted had to deal with on a console till the N64.

Honestly, sword fighting in Red Steel was a JOKE! I mean, I enjoyed the level design, I really did. But the game is fatally flawed in MANY other ways.

I'd give it exactly what I got. The framerate was horrible, the graphics were bad and it just wasn't very high quality over all. The framerate is definately the reason I disliked it so much. Don't get it to anyone who is thinking of doing so.

You know, a lot can be said about renting games. The fact is that games are an investment. If you put upwards of 40 dollars on something, you intend to get good use out of it. Unless the reviews are really poor, I always try all games at least once. Never trust a critic 100%. Everyone has tastes and prejudices. We can't get rid of them since we are human, as much as we try to deny that we don't carrie bias. Having said that, Illbleed for the Dreamcast didn't get the best reviews. It wasn't the most graphically stunning game ever made. It's controls weren't a defining moment in video-game history. Yet. I love haunted houses and Illbleed for the Dreamcast was and is still one of the best video games I have ever played because of it. If I simply would have listened to critics or people not as interested in haunted houses as myself, I would have missed it. If you enjoyed Red Steel then you are right to enjoy it. A person's enjoyment of something is personal, and can't be decided by a critic. A critic can only tell you if you are likely to like it or not.

In virtually every aspect. Except the glitches and the story, which were just flat-out bad.

It wasn't bad. Just bland. Single player bored me, but miltiplayer was fun. I'll always remember my friends making fun of me for saying Red Steel would suck and buying Rayman Raving Rabbids instead the week before the Wii launched. But look whose $50 was more well spent. :)

I picked up this game for $15 used. I haven't had alot of time to play because of school, but I did finish the first level. From all the reviews I didn't have high expectations, but I ended up liking the gameplay though the controls could have been better.

The worst part of the game though are those really crappy cinematics. Terrible CG comic book style cinematics. Very poor production value. For $15 though, hell why not. But for $50 or even $30 no chance in hell I would have considered buying this.

Actually a lot of people liked the cinematics. They fit the vibe of the story. Think 60-70s kung fu movies. The music is great.

Realtime cutscneces have really ruined a lot of games. There are games that are 90% grind 90% frivilous cutscnece because otherwise you would have finished with the game in ten minutes.

It would of been a good game if it didn't have all its problems.
