I found myself being undewhelmed by the wiimote.

After all the hype that made me buy my Wii, I thought that the motion sensing controlling would be something extraordinary, but I find it constrained.

Why is it impossible to make a sword fighting game for example, where a motion sensing controller would read all your moves no matter how you slashed, and transfer it into the game?

You made the same thread days ago. Just sell your Wii and that's it. We don't care about what you think. chris3116

I value your opinion, but I think that you can only speak for yourself.

Your other topic "The Wii-mote is lame" was locked...probably because there is no room for conversation, which is of course the whole point in a Wii-forum.

I agree with Chris3116. This forum is for Wii fans. If you are unhappy with your Wii, then sell it and move on.

I'm not unhappy with the Wii, I'm unhappy with the wiimote.

And if I sell that, I can't control my Wii any more...

I'm just a little underwhelmed, 5 years in secret development and the end results feels like a pointer - instead of a motion sensing controller - to me.

I'm also surprised of the Wii's lasting popularity, given how wekaly I think it's games take advantage of said controller.

what do you think of the possibility of the outcome of this topic ? Posting a hating wii remote in a wii fan forum, do you really think people are just gonna agree and discuss your negative opinion toward the wii ? If you hate it so much sell the wii and buy something you like with that money

I was also underwhelmed with the wiimote. It's not much more than pointing and 6-directional "wagling". But as long as there are good game I don't mind.

The wii is kinda lik the sega cd. It was the first console to ultilize cd's but it turned out to be very mediocre. The wii is ok but only a few games make you feel like your in the game.

sorry people but this is not a FAN only forum. its for discussing the Wii. wich is what he is doing. not every body has to be mind washed fanboys. some people can actualy like the Wii but have some negative things to say about it. he is not trolling or bashing the wii. he is expressing his view on one aspect of the console.

like i said in your other thread i to was let down a bit by the Wiimote. a few games have GREATLY improved by it though like MP3. hopefully WM+ will allow for those games we all hoped for when fistwe heard about the Wii controler. And i mean its realy to be expected as its such a vastly deffernt and new idea for games that it would take some time for devs to get it right.

Well when you put it like that, I can't help but agree. Like I replied in your last topic, I feel that the Wii Motion Plus is nothing more than a 2-inch extension to compensate for fan-boys lacking self confidence.

Here's an example of my growing disappointment with the Wii's motion controls...or lack there of: Lego Indiana Jones. I specifically got it for the 360 because I enjoyed Lego Star Wars so mush, I assumed that being so much further into the Wii's existance, there would have been some cool Wii-mote implimentations like using Indiana's whip by swinging the remote...but it didn't even have that.

Another example is Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Built from the ground up for the Wii, and not even Nintendo itself bothered with implimenting Wii-mote controls.

There's plenty of multi platform games coming out that I now refuse to get for the Wii instead of another console. What's the point?

I completely agree that it is not living up to it's potential, but that's just it, it has potential. like was stated earlier it's the first of it's kind. I think it will only get better with time.

yea its sad that devs dont realy put effort into the controles. but so many dont even bother to make there games look like something more than camecube games. and in alot of case's poor gamecube games. the Wii motion plus though is not to compensate for any thing. its to make wiimote more accurate. thus allowing for those sword fighting games ect.

and your point is? even if all those games you listed used the Wiimote wounderfully "though olly a few used them very well" it would still be underwhelming. /your post :p

All of them used the Wiimote Technology well -- There is no need to complain either, Wii MotionPlus is coming.

Useless topic, especially since it was created not once, but twice.

How the HELL would you play Brawl with motion controls? (But if you're talking waggle, there IS shake-smash, if you like that kinda thing. I prefer using d-pad for smash attacks when playing with Wii-remote+nunchuck though)

Like Wii Sports Resorts? I'm not looking forward to it, but saying "Why is it impossible..." when something exactly like that is coming seems to be pretty trollish.

Eh, you can't really just say that this is a useless topic because it was created twice. I mean, how many other threads are there right now on the front page that are identical to ones created last week, but lots of people still post in them and share their opinions.

Also, saying "Wii MotionPlus is coming" to someone disapointed with the Wiimote doesn't seem like good logic to me. That's like saying "I know you were really excited about that last pie, then you ate it and thought it was crap, but don't worry I'm baking another one."

Well, it's not exactly like that, but you get the point I hope: No one is going to waste their time getting hyped about M+ and all the amazing things it could do if they don't think the Wiimote lived up to what it was supposed (at least in many people's minds) to do.

Well, even one good game is enough to prove that not the Wiimote itself is underwhelming, but the lack of effort by the developers. It's not fair to say the remote sucks, when it actually can do better than most developers want it to.

I like the wii and I like the wiimote. I feel the wiimote/nunchuck provides hands down the best controls for any console ever. Still, the wiimote is limited. More limited than what I was expecting.

Who remembers this Vid? I was so hyped by that vid, I was just tingeling with excitement. But in truth, many of those games can't be done. Thankfully motion plus is coming out and they should now be possible.

While I think support from nintendo is great, some of the 3rd parties games have lacked substance. I love my wii and hope nintendo produces more great games, but come on M&M's the game.

How the hell would you play SSBB with motion controls? If Mortal Kombat can do it poorly, surely Nintendo can do it well. But again, they didn't even bother. Is that a sign that even they see how gimmicky it is? Or does it mean that a good game can stand on its own without the need for tacking on waggle controls?

Aside from that though, you quoted only one part of my post, therefore misconstruing what I was saying but instead focusing only on SSBB.

Posting a hating wii remote in a wii fan forum, do you really think people are just gonna agree and discuss your negative opinion toward the wii ?

Km0n

You can't fault a guy for being optimistic that people who disagree with his opinion will opt for civil discussion rather than flaming him, calling him a hater, and giving him unsolicited advice by telling him what he should do with his own stuff. :)

Well when you put it like that, I can't help but agree. Like I replied in your last topic, I feel that the Wii Motion Plus is nothing more than a 2-inch extension to compensate for fan-boys lacking self confidence.

:? whaa...? No, it's so that the things you describe that aren't being done (implementing light-saber and whip motion controls) can be done. The only thing it's compensating for is the unfulfilled promises. Motion+ will finally do what the Wii was always supposed to do from the beginning.

Well, even one good game is enough to prove that not the Wiimote itself is underwhelming, but the lack of effort by the developers. It's not fair to say the remote sucks, when it actually can do better than most developers want it to.nethernova

Good job he never said that then. You'll see he always phrased it that he was underwhelmed (lol Sloan) by the the wiimote, not that it itself is underwhelming. In fact, he commented on "how wekaly [sic!] I think it's [sic!] games take advantage of said controller." Point is, you're not pointing out anything that the OP didn't.

... Wii Motion Plus will apparently make the Wii-mote what it is already supposed to be...only we get to pay for it. (Yay...:?)

Am I really supposed to believe that a slightly more accurate laser pointer controller will make games fun to play all of a sudden?

Lol, I agree it's a ripoff; the tech should have been included from the outset. But it's not a "slightly more accurate laser pointer"; it's a motion sensor. The laser has always been fine; it's the motion sensing that's the problem. Based on IGN's previews, it seems that one thing Motion+ can't be faulted for is ability to reproduce motions 1:1, which truly is exciting.

Now, how many games are going to make use of this technology remains a question, considering they can't assume that everyone has it. Similar problem with the 360: you can't require installation because not all have an HDD.
