Well, for me, I got it because it's the most affordable next gen and I usually don't buy alot of games and I don't have HD(i got SD) so it's really the perfect choice for me. I also don't wanna pay for online gaming. and I got tired/bored of the normal gaming and I don't really care much for super graphics. And playing wii sports gets me moving around, which is nice and it's also fun to play with family and friends.

A few things led me to the Wii: 1. I'm fascinated with the motion sensing controls. I have six games, and it works well on all of them. 2. I am biased against the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD formats. They're being sold to us as "high definition", but the real push for them is to restore copy protections. The idiotic lengths Microsoft went to build anti-piracy into Vista is making everyone pay more for computers. So I chose not to give my money to a company that would do that. So no XBox 360. Nor will I give my money to a company that hacked people's computers intentionally in the name of anti-piracy (Sony). So no PS3. 3. The quality control issues with the PS3 with regard to the Blu-Ray drive keeps me from reconsidering them in the future. 4. Nintendo has never lost a dime on its game consoles. That's because they're a game company first and exclusively. They're not also trying to sell PC operating systems and software, nor are they a multinational conglomerate owning record labels, movie studios, or televisions. Their focus is on the gamer. They may not get it right all the time, but their heart is in the right place. 5. You can't beat the price. $250 is a relative bargain when you compare it with the prices for the XBox 260 and the PS3. I admit, some of these reasons are because I despise and distrust Microsoft and Sony. My attitude toward them have nothing to do with their game consoles (well, maybe a little with Sony). Nintendo is just a much more likable company, so I don't deny that has a big influence on my choices. Even in gaming, politics matter. David V .

Wii is totaly different. You won't see many multiplatform games on Wii but you'll see many more exclusives than the other 2 consoles. It's unique and it's affordable.

I really wouldn't call Wii next gen. it's more like last gen with a new controller. Many people are buying Wiis because they seem to be cool. If Sony or Xbox realizes that motion sensing is popular they can create a new controller but wii cannot upgrade the graphics performance. If you are buying a Wii I would suggest owning  another console with it unless if you want to play pure mario games.

Dont buy a Wii without having a 360 or a PS3, so that way you get the best of both worlds....

Sony already has a gimped motion controll play in the sixaxis for the PS3.

Xbox 360 won't have a motion controller. It would alienate the so called hardcore and due to it's tacked on nature be quite useless. Most game developers won't develop for the controller due to it's tacked on nature.

Nintendo spent a billion dollars developing the Wii and the motion controller. They have lots more expierence including numerous failed prototypes. Sony and Microsoft have very little if any.

Here is the thing a lot of so called gamers are missing out on. The xbox 360 and PS3 do not have mass market appeal to the nongamers. Nongamers consider the wii to have excellent graphics and be more fun to play on then the xbox 360 or PS3.

Nongamers will be the new gamers in two to three yearsand they won't move to the xbox 360 or PS3.

Im buying one (in like 5 days man!) because of the price and because I like the controller is kind of like a ds with a stylus only without the hand cramps and trying to play a game with 3 hands. Also I've always kind of liked going to the mall and playing the arcade guncon games and the wii has a potential to make some nice games similar to that. I've also had Nintendo systems since the NES days and I love them all. The only thing I want is mgs4 on wii I dont care if they have to make the graphics worse or make me use a gamecube controller I just want to see the end without paying $600 and I know Hideo Kojima wouldn't torture us by putting snake on SSBB and never making a metal gear game for the wii (*sniff* I really hope he wouldn't). Probably the biggest reason I like wii is because I don't want to be owned by bill gates any more than I already am and I dont like companies that lie about their systems like sony.
EDIT: oh and that six-axis thing  sony did and then saying it doesnt need a sensor bar on your tv to work...not cool man...not cool at all.

Next gen is next gen...it's the next generation of Nintendo's console. Graphical capabilities have nothing to do with another generation, another cycle being released. What you are describing is graphics. Next gen graphics vs Next gen console have nothing to do with each other.
