Brawl has improved in many ways except gamplay.
But I still find Brawl the better game.

One major reason right there.
I prefer Brawl, but why don't you play SSBM right now,do a match, and tell me what is the first thing you notice.
That is why.

Switching from Melee to Brawl was like switching on slow-mo mode.-Oath

two very true truths
All personal opinion.
I liked Brawl a little more. The only things in Brawl I was disappointed by was the target mode, online, and the character roster (wasn't bad, but expected much more from it).
people like Melee better cause its faster. I like Brawl better because I like my matches to feature more than Shiek, Fox and Marth
*Sigh* I should just save this post I use it so many times. -_-
They're really both good games and I don't really have a preference. Although since everyone plays Brawl now that would be the only one I can play people in so I would prefer it but I find Melee to be the overall better game. Here's a copy of what I said in another topic:
It's hard to say, Brawl has much more content then Melee by far, but Brawl also has much more problems then Melee which has little to criticize. Melee gets far less complaints then Brawl and is the installment that made the series so popular and will probably be the only installment to be the best selling game on its respective console.
Melee was harder, Melee's break the targets and home run contest modes were better IMO, It had the trophy, Adventure Mode, and Event Matches thing first, and also had the alternate music on a stage thing which we all know became huge in Brawl.
Basically, every mode in Brawl is an expansion from Melee except for the Stage Builder, Smash Ball (Final Smashes were unbalanced), and Online (which is terrible) so I have to go with Melee for being more innovative for its time and also for perfecting its new additions better then Brawl did.
I'm glad Brawl slowed the gameplay down alittle. I thought Melee was way too fast paced for its own good. Also, the 1P adventure mode for Melee was very short.
I will admit that Melee had a much better better break-the-targets, though.
