It's been over two years since the release of Mario Party 8. The series sells like hot cakes, so I wonder why Nintendo hasn't announced Mario Party 9 yet? The series has further potential on Wii. It could utilize the Wii Motion Plus, and maybe even feature on-line play?

What do you think? :D

I think there are other priorities to cover, metroid was really important to satisfy the nintendo core gamer, Mario was needed to drive sales more strongly than MP, Zelda is really overdue, and new ips need to keep taking off.Nintendo has not infinite resources to do everything at once and we had more Mario parties than any other franchise.I mean seriously..8 mario parties vs 3 smash games? or vs 6 console Metroids?or vs 4 Star Foxes? Mario Party has been milked hard and will BE milked further, no doubt. But they know the market isnt desperate RIGHT now for more Mario party. It will come next year probably, with online and all the goodies.

What more could they possibly do on Mario Party?

I'd only be interested in another one if it wasn't effectively the same thing as the other preceding eight of them.

I remember playing Mario Party 1, 2, and 3 on the nintendo 64; however, I have problems with a Mario Party 9. It kinda brings back memories of Land Before Time 9 *shudders*

If they make another mario party they better make it count - it should be 'THE Mario Party', not 'this years version' like what they used to do.

Yeah I'd like to see Mario Party 9 as well. I was actually hoping they would've announced it at E3 this year.

Online play is something it needs, it'd be stupid for Nintendo not to include wi-fi and really there's no reason for them not to anymore. It'd be so much more fun to be able to play with 3 other friends over wi-fi rather than have to play by yourself with 3 cpu's all the time. Unless you have at least 1-3 people you can play with, it's really not as much fun and does get boring after a while. They could even incorporate some kind of online ranking system to see who has the most stars and coins overall or something, and be able to post your records for mini-games online to see whose the best of the best. And if you don't have friends registered I'm sure they could find a way to have random games with people, so you'd join 3 other random people and play together.

I think they should also make a board editor, so you can design your own game boards to play on. Let's not forget about Wii Speak either, Mario Party 6 and 7 came with a Microphone. There's no reason why Mario Party 9 can't have voice support. Being able to talk to people while you're playing would be awesome. Maybe not during mini-games but during each players turns on the boards. And they could include even more mini-games, instead of always having around 70 why not make it an even 100?

These are things I think Mario Party 9 needs. Here's hoping it comes out next year if not this year.

Since this has been the biggest amount of time we have ever had without a Mario Party title I assume they are either making big changes or the series has reached its end.

Maybe they feel guilty for milking the series so bad.

Nintendo made the mistkae of thinking Mario Party should be spammed on the GC. Ya they sold well, but they did not help library gaps and di not push hardware.

First off, hot cakes are gross. Cold cakes are awesome.

Mario Party 8 was great, but way too glitchy.

I was gonna make a topic on this. I really want it to come out because I kinda sorta, dare I say it, like the series. I think Nintendo is going to wait until any and all peripherals finally come out and package them all with Mario Party. :o

What more could they possibly do on Mario Party?

GabuEx

A lot. They hardly used the Wiimote at all. It was lame.

They can do so much with the controls besides "point and shoot", "waggle constantly", etc.

How about Balance Board support? WiiM+? I can see a great game if they do it right.

But the price of 8 would go down.

i'm in a love/hate relationship with mario party, after all, this is the series thatstarted it all, dooming us with all this minigame hell that engulfs the wii's library. not quite sure if i'd like to see a ninth mario party.

Yes, balance board support would be great. At the start of a board, you can select if you have the board or not, so that these games appear or not. I can imagine minigames where players take turns to do something on the board.

I can think of three possibilities: 1. They have abandoned the series because it has gotten so bad. 2. They waited to develop it for a while because they had too many other projects and they wanted to release it with certain peripherals. 3. They are going to be serious about the franchise and make MP9 a quality title, and thus are spending more time that usual developing it.

They need to add something amazing to the series like online play because I think it has all gone down hill since mario party 6.

I agree. I wouldn't mind another Mario Party, but if they do revive it again, it has to have major changes.

I was just thinking about that the other day. They need a new Mario Party to redeem them from the lackluster Mario Party 8.

Mario Party got uninteresting ever since DK wasn't playable!
