Fu*k yes! I'd take an Odyssey sequel over a BOTW sequel any day. It would instantly become my most wanted game...
My guess is we'll probably get it in the next couple of years.
@hrt_rulz01: Yup, I was hoping you'd comment first. Odyssey honestly gives me feelings while playing a game I've never felt before. It's magical.
Lol yeah... it could be my game of the gen. It just oozes quality.
I bet they will but probably around 2021 like I assume BOTW 2 will come out. Right now they are still getting lots of new people buying a Switch and buying BOTW and Odyssey immediately. So I’m sure they will make it but just not right away. Nintendo is being smart with the Switch so far.
@comoestas: mario maker 2 is amazing so far!! It’s everything I wished New Sup Mar Bros U deluxe was gonna be and more! Definitely wasn’t planning on getting it so soon but I have zero regrets. It’s brilliant fun.
@speeny: no need for the first game. This is everything the first one tried to be but wasn’t ready yet. First one was great but this one literally takes all of it and just makes it so much better. Even just for the single player story mode. It’s the best 2D Mario campaign since Super Mario World.
I take BotW 2 over Odyssey 2, but I want both. For the next Odyssey I want a bit of Galaxy mixed in, give me the whole solar system.

That sounds awesome!
@speeny: Yeah it's going to be a hard act to follow, for sure... But if anyone can do it, it's Nintendo. They did it with Mario Galaxy :)
It would be cool if they made another Mario game on the Switch, but maybe something new and not just Odyssey 2. It would be nice to see some new game mechanic. Cappy doesn't really impact much, the way FLUDD did.
I think Mario Maker 2 seems like the greatest Mario game of all time. I will definitely get a copy, just not sure when yet. This is a pretty full year for Switch releases.
Now that it has a story mode I'd consider SMM2. While it isn't high on my list, it is on my list nevertheless. Odyssey was a solid game but (even though similarities exist) I'd rather a new Galaxy.

We've already had 2 Galaxy games though... do we really need another one?
I think there are plenty more worlds to explore in an Odyssey sequel. But that's me :)

Totally agree. I'm still waiting on them to announce some DLC Kingdom's but I doubt that'll happen.

If they aren't doing an Odyssey sequel, then I'll be very disappointed they didn't do DLC. But I'm sure they're saving it for a sequel.
It will happen eventually. I do wonder, though, how they'll expand on the first. There are still some uncovered themes for them to choose, but most of the obvious ones are now done.
A boohouse-themed world would be on the top of my list! And a battleship one. Or maybe have it all with a world themed around the haunted ship from Super Mario Bros U? :p
@brianvansmith: Some great ideas.
Thanks! I'm sure the team making the game could come up with a ton of better things. And of course, some worlds could be brought back with new enemies and such. It would definitely get my purchase!
It'll have to be better than Odyssey. I only finished the game once and don't wanna play it again. I want to feel a sense of accomplishment collecting whatever items of power a game has. It's why I still prefer Sunshine

A sequel to Sunshine would be awesome (or a similar style game)... hell I'd settle for a remake on Switch!
But I'd equally love an Odyssey sequel.
@hrt_rulz01: Sunshine is why I'm waiting for a GameCube mini. I loved it more than Odyssey. With Odyssey moons were hidden in dumb places like on a ledge or some other easily accessible place
@Celsius765: Yeah but that was part of the fun in finding them.
But yeah, even though I already own a Gamecube, I'd buy a mini in a heartbeat.
Odyssey is a good game, but I wouldn't say it "oozes quality." Deserving a sequel? Sure. Game of the generation? Not even close. I will say that Nintendo is a fascinating company because they manage to breath new life into old IP's and make them new and fresh with every new iteration, and for that I applaud them. I am happy to see a sequel to BoTW, but I feel it's too soon to be honest. I want to see the next Splatoon game personally.

Odyssey doesn't ooze quality? Really? I understand if it isn't people's favourite Mario game, but to say it isn't a quality game is ridiculous, with all due respect.
But hey, your opinion I guess.

Odyssey hit the nail on the head for me, and I'm not even a huge Mario fan in general.
I do agree with what you're saying about the BotW sequel though. I still haven't played the first game. Though, it could take a few years to develop still. I don't think we got a release date yet?
@hrt_rulz01: I didn't say it wasn't a quality title, I just simply stated it didn't "ooze" quality. It has its shortcoming as with all games.
