If one were to buy a Wii, what would he or she have to look forward to?

I'm a proud owner of an Xbox360 and have really enjoyed every game I have bought for it. And when I look into the future I can name atleast a dozen games that I'm looking forward to for the 360.

In the past I have owned most major consoles, with the exception of the SNES, and the Sega Saturn. But this generation I told myself I was just going to stick with my 360 since it seemed to have everything I wanted, and the games I wanted to play the most were coming out for it.

Well as the holiday season approaches, my gaming urges do to. With the pile of new highly anticipated games coming out for the holidays, I'm in a gaming frenzy. And any game Gamespot usually praises I'm out playing within the week. So last week as I was looking forward to all of the reviews for the new 360 games coming out, one non 360 game caught my eye... you guessed it 'Mario Galaxy'. As I watched the video review, looked over the screen shots, and watched the gameplay marathon, I wanted to have this game like crazy. And since then I've had a temptation to go buy a Wii.

Now my problem with buying a Wii, is I'm not too sure of the games that are going to come out in the future. I don't want to spend my money on this console for a couple games. Of course some good ones have come out, and if I were to buy a Wii today, I can honestly say that I would probably only pick up 3 titles. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (just because I'm a RE fan) I'm not a Metroid fan, so I would leave that game alone. So then I look into the future and wonder what's coming out, and really the only game that seemed like a really big title was Super Smash Bro's. I tried digging deeper than that, but couldn't find anything.

I'm not really into the mini-game type games, such as Wario Ware, or Trauma Center. So those are out of the question. I'm into games that you can really get into and that have a good story, or a solid franchise to back them up, such as Mario, or Zelda. So I'm wondering if the wonderful community here at Gamespot can help me out by giving me a few highly anticipated titles that maybe I looked over, or that I missed coming out for the Wii. And hopefully then I can decide if the purchase is worth it or not.

well, im a 360/wii owner, and honestly, i spend my time on them evenly. if your planning on buying a wii, dont expect to have a huge, 20+ gaming collection for it. its deffeinatley not that kind of system. its more of a "side" console. its the system you play when you get kind of sick of your main console, but at the same time as this may seem a bad thing, its fairly a good one.

if you have about 5+ games you know you want, thats enough. playing zelda alone=40+ hours, and SMG= 40+ as well (if oyu plan to beat that game with luigi as well)

theres also some great third party games, like RE, MOH, Rayman, and tons of others. however, the library may not seem big, it really is.

just look around, and find games you want before you buy it, but, even if their arent many (less than 10) its still fine, since you never know what coming, and the systems price tag, as well as games' prices are very reasonable.

In terms of minigame fun to be had, you can't go wrong with Wario Ware, Super Monkey Ball (single player puzzles too), and Mario Party 8. In terms of truly EPIC games you must buy Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 (hell, you need to get 1 and 2 also, some of the msot amazing games I've ever played), and most importantly, Super Mario Galaxy. That game has changed my outlook on games, very very amazing. :) Then, of course, SSBB comes out in a few months, so you have that to look forward to. If you can find a Wii, by all means get one!

Well I would actually recommend you at least rent Metroid Prime 3 simply because non-Metroid fans can actually get into it - I can't get into a single Metroid experience for more than 2 hours. Yet Prime 3 I'm enjoying quite a bit. There is a learning curve, but once it's nailed it does feel better than analog control.

Having said that, you could look into Medal of Honor Heroes 2. Yes, it is yet another WWII shooter, and yes the online is obviously prehisotric compared to Live, but it's 32 player online with controls that are superior to Metroid PRime 3's - all of which is customizable.

If you enjoyed Geometry Wars on Xbox Live, you could look into Geometry Wars Galaxies for Wii which has had solid praise so far.

No More Heroes is also a quirky title you might be interested (hardcore game backed with story), just look on youtube for the trailers. I mean, laser-crotch firing super villians who are fat mailmen by trade can't be all that bad......

Wii is a good console. I mean, i got some pretty damn good tittles on my hands (Zelda Tp, Super mario galaxy, metroid prime 3, super paper mario) but also i can find a lot of crap within this system. But still, this opens the possiblty that programmers may take more risks and create a gem, while doing some crappy games. Also, the wii is not a side console. It has exclusive franchises and some good games besides the ones i mentioned before( Guitar hero 3, Re: Umbrella Chronicles, Smooth Moves, and resident evil 4: wii edition). Some minigame collections are funny, i dunno why you dont like em...ehem... Ah! and if you talk about coming releases that look good, we have super smash brother brawl , mario kart wii, and i red in egm that miyamoto is making new zelda. Also there is links crossbows training, and other franchises that could find a place in this system ( kirby, maybe some rpg from camelot which they promised for the gamecube but was never developed, any fps shooter, or some game like zack and wiki)

- In conclusion, if you want to play the best videogame franchises that exist, buy a wii, you wont regret it :)

In all honesty, the recent Nintendo consoles changed their approach from quantity to quality, so in other words, you will not find many interesting games for the Wii. I bought it expecting a shortage and months of non existant play time with it (which, sadly, happened for almost an entire year), but I simply had to play Twilight Princess and Galaxy. I was considering selling mine since it was collecting dust, more than I expected, but after playing Galaxy, I won't be doing that anytime soon. If you're a gamer from the Mario 64 days and enjoyed it like I did, you can't go wrong with Galaxy. If you had a blast and miss the glorious N64 days, Igaranteeyouwilllovethisgame.Andyes,formeitwasworthpaying250tojustplayadozenofextremellygoodgames.
